Ready made prayers - it is of no use. Talk to God as you would like to a wise friend. Relationship with God should not be a formal one.If so, it is not a relationship at all.Bring love into your prayer.Only then can you talk ! It's great - a dialogue with the entire Universe.

I agree that praying to God should be like talking a good friend. Communication is the key to a good relationship. However, I disagree that there is no place for traditional prayers. I had an experience when I can't find any words in my fear but I knew that I wanted to pray. The only words that I could utter was the "Lord's Prayer". I was glad that I remembered the words at that moment and it pulled me out of that scary situation. And may I add, that prayer doesn't involve just talking but listening as well. This is my prayer most days, just reading God's word and then reflecting on it.

Oh, I love this idea! There are times for formal, scripted prayers, but in truth an conversation is not formal or scripted. I would send a formal invitation to my friends to attend my daughter's wedding, but I would also just call them up, and make sure that they knew that because of our long relationship, it is important for them to be there. I will formally invite God to be present, in a public way, but I will also send ribbons of love up to Him as prayers for everything I am thankful for, and every need I have, and every moment I exist.
