Anyone has a not so well known story/information about this culture? We all know about the legend of Isis and Osiris, and also the final judgement and what Anubis does, and a few things from Ptah, Horus, Ibis... But there were around 1500 gods and goesses in this culture, all with their variations and legends, anyone know about them? can this religion be worhiped nowadays someway?

I'm not extremely knowledgeable on this subject, but I did come across an interesting fact in my Philosophy course at university this year. I was studying ancient Greece, and the introduction of the Sophists (who believed that each community had the right to stick by their own rules and not be judged for it - in a nutshell) and we learned that at that time in Egypt, incest was a favoured action, especially by the rulers of the land, because they believed in keeping the royal bloodline pure! :o)

I don't have a lot of information on the subject but one interesting fact I have discovered is about Baptism. Baptism originated in the cult of Isis. Followers first confessed their sins and the had them washed away through the rite of baptism. There is good reason to believe that the story of the Virgin Mary originated in the cult of Isis so in some ways we are still seeing the old religion of Egypt practised today.

Thank you for this interesting information. That is actually the kind of answers I needed. I love feminine divinities, specially when they have an important philosophic meaning such as baptism. I think all this is logic, perhaps a metaphore of the uterus and the mother giving to birth. I like that idea of the Virgin Mary inspired on the cult of Isis, and perhaps Isis originated on other cults such as Dahomeyan Oshun. Can you tell me your sources so that I can compare with mines?
