Over the years I've recieved so many promises from family and friends but no one of them lasted. So it really got me thinking, are promises made just to make you feel better? Or are they really meant to be broken?

Promises - Promise
I partly agree that promises are meant to be broken. It could be true in some sense. I have said that because of a friend who used to make promises. He used to say he will quit smoking and drinking to avoid sickness to occur. But he still keeps on doing it. It just makes me pissed off. It goes me nuts really. Obviously, he just said that to comfort me and make me feel comfortable. When I confronted him about it, I told him not to make promises at all. It's better that you'll just show me what you want to do or change yourself. I don't necessarily need promises now. I added that we are just humans and that we're not perfect. We do make mistakes sometimes and it's one of them. Let's not force ourselves to be prisoners of our own malice. It's so erratic.

Yes I understand. I've heard of promises like that from friends alot too. Especially during new year. They promise themselves as they're new year resolutions that they will quit smoking, drinking and all bad habbits but after a few weeks they would go back to doing it! I don't understand sometimes. I guess we have to learn not to put too much into promises. We will just get upset if they don't fullfil it right.

Its my principle to live up to the promises i gave to other people because i dont want to receive a promise that it will be broken in the end. I want to set an example to people i gave my promises so that in case they will promise me something or anything, they will remember that they shouldnt break their promises to me because i do what i promised to them. Its an action with a corresponding reaction.
