Yeah, I think that can be true. My parents have always told me that they love me on a daily basis, and sometimes several times each day, and it's definitely had a really positive affect on me. I think it helped me to realize that I should value myself and not just jump into bed with random guys! I grew up in a really loving home, and I think that may be part of why I have such a great marriage now, because I wasn't starving for love from whoever would give it to me, and like you said, I didn't fall into fornication because I valued myself and wanted to make my parents proud with my life choices because they had shown me so much love. :)

My parents never say " I love you " to me, maybe they love me more than they can say it or maybe they never think about it.

erm.. i can't remember getting such words anymore.. but.. i do get it last time.. that was like .. many years ago.. maybe 10 - 11 years ago.. i don't live with my parents.. so.. it's really hard to hear them saying such words.. i do wish i could hear them saying it.. i promised myself.. someday.. i'll say the words to my children.. to make them feel proud and happy to have such father.. isn't that good? .. but i think many teenager would refuse to receive such words.. they're just too embarass to accept it.. it's a wrong idea .. there's nothing to be shy of.. you love your parents.. and your parents love you.. that's a very clear idea =)

I never ever hear my parents say i love you to me and to my sisters. But i know they love us because it really shows in their concerns, care, understanding, and action. I really believe that action speaks louder than words.

Me too...I never heard my parents told me they love me unless when they are mad and telling me that they scolded me because they love me.Thus, I make it a point now that I always tell my kids that as much as i could everyday. I know action speaks louder than words but it's better if BOTH. Agree guys?!

My father said this to me all the time, but abused me, so I never really believe the words anymore. How can someone say something like that and mean it sincerely when they are doing something like that? Mom rarely says that to me, but it is not harsh. I know my mom loves me very much...and I love her too.

I rarely heard it from either of my parents. Never got much praise from either of them for anything I did, even when I did well. Now that I have a daughter, I tell her constantly that I love her, anywhere from 50 - 100 times a day on up. I have made sure that she knows in no uncertain terms how much I love her, not just in the things I do for her, but in words as well. I wasn't supposed to be able to have children and was told at age 35 that I had started menopause. 4 years later I was shocked to find out at age 39 that I was pregnant. I'm now 47 and can't have any more children, menopause really has kicked in now. I'm a single mother and I have a beautiful 7 yr. old daughter that I love with all my heart, she's my miracle baby.

I
Everytime we talk on the phone and say goodbye me and my parents say 'bye, i love you' to eachother. Or anytime any of us is goin to go somewhere we say 'bye, i love you.' So we always say it at least once a day to eachother. Usually more though.

My parents really love me and whenever they have chance to see me, they express their emotion. even if they don't express sometimes, i can feel it on their faces. I believe to be blessed.

i don't recall ever hearing it. they would kind of say it in other ways, but as far as coming out and saying it..they weren't really verbally emotional like that.

I don't think my parents ever told me that they loved me - but then I am now 52 and it just wasn't the thing when I was a child. I didn't find that at all strange then but when I met my first boyfriend and he told me he loved me I found that difficult to understand. It got me thinking why he should love me when my parents never said they did and surely, they should have loved me more that a boy I had just met. Relationships were always difficult for me because of that, until I met someone very special and it just seemed normal and natural for him to say he loved me because I knew I loved him more than anyone I had ever met. I had to practice saying I love you on my own at home so that I could finally tell him and not feel stupid or wrong about it. I had many boyfriends but only one marriage because of it!

I don't remember the last time when my parent told me they love me, but when I was younger, they told me that a lot.
