I just don't get it

Hi all, I'm a little confused. I have tried really hard to get my earnings up & i've had quite a few good days but i spent most of tonight & this afternoon replying to discussions. I thought i picked the ones out i could answer, i tried to answer then as well as possible & as long as possible. I gave the best advise i could & still, i am only rewarded with 24 cents, i just don't understand. I just don't get how i can spend so long on here, answer as helpfully as possible yet end up with so little money. I don't reply here for the money but it's good to know i've done a good job by getting myself a good pay amount. Any ideas on how to make my replies better to earn more? I cant think of how i can be more descriptive or more helpful - any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I will try to help if I can. How many responses did you make? I try to make around 30-50 a day. Did you rate every discussion you went to? Rating is important and counts toward your participation points. Did you answer questions from a variety of selections...i.e. news, blogs, new discussions, top discussions, friends discussions? I find that doing this helps, at least it does for me. Did you start any of your own discussion, so others could reply to you? This helps as well. I don't mean flood the board with topics, just one or two good discussions can really help. Always go back and comment if you can to the responders, make sure you rate them all, and choose best responses. You can also upload pictures to your interest catagories, to earn a bit more. One the days that I do this, I find that I can make $1.00 a day or better. I don't always have time to do so though, lol. I hope I've helped. Happy posting.

that helps me out, i know that for sure. im pretty new to this. so you try to comment around 30 - 50 a day, i think i can do that. well, not that much, but i am going to create a goal like you this week. a dollar aday, not that much until it adds up which is why i joined this site and others. i think ill start a few discussions that let others talk about what they want, not something about me that someone can just "comment" on. so be on the look out, ill go do that now.

I have managed $23 so far - which is due to be sent out for this coming payout. I am very pleased with my efforts so far, i was just a little curious to see how i can be doing the same things all the time but some days i get better pays than others. Yes i have started discussions for others to reply to - LOL - you replied to it! I have a few others but i can never think of what to start a discussion on. I don't want to be like some people who just start 1 liners on nothing. I'll keep all of your advise on mind, thanks for taking the time to help me out, i appreciate it!

Just post as many quality discussions as you can. Check your grammer. Select questions which enable you to give it the best possible answer. Don't select questions which just offer you an option. Choose questions that are interesting and also gives you an opportunity to elaborate. This is what i think it is.

Your grammer really doesn't affect your earnings. Neither does flooding the board by starting as many discussions as you can. It does no good to start discussions, if you can't keep up with them. You are right about choosing questions that are more than just a choice, or yes or no answers.

Grammar can affect your ratings though. And if someone can't read or understand what the poster is writing, then they won't post, and the more replies the better. But grammar, of course, shouldn't be the only stick we judge by. I agree with you both, content matters the most.

I have tried numerous things, originally i thought it might have something to do with spelling - mainly because i'm in Australia & we spell quite a few things differently to the USA. There's nothing wrong with my grammar, i have gone back & checked on a few occasions but thank you for the thought. I never choose discussions that only require a simple 'yes' or 'no' answer, those ones don't appeal to me anyway!

i don't really understand as well... my earnings also go up and down like yours but i don't really give too much attention to it... i prefer to enjoy and have fun here and treat the earnings here as a bonus... that way, you won't be dissapointed or get stressed out when mylot doesn't pay you a lot... for me, money is still money no matter how litte it is... :-) have a nice day...

I agree with you. That was my point exactly. I just left my comment when I noticed your comment above mine. I found on my first day that I had to change my focus of the money or else this was never going to work. Sure I want to make money just like everyone else; but when you are only getting a penny for your thoughts you have to just rely on the joy of spending time here to give you satisfaction! Have you recieved money from mylot?

Maybe you can answer 50 to 75 discussions. It is up to you to figure out how to make your replies better.

It's hard to make the replies better but i can only imagine you're not making alot with 1-2 liners like that. It's hard to reply to 50 or 75 discussions in a day, mainly because i'm still on dial up - the joys of rural living but also because i don't have the time in a day to respond to that many, i have a house to clean, a baby to look after & general things like that. It's also hard to make replies better when everyone has a different opinion on what quality posts are & even by filling this box it's hard to work out if it's enough or not.

Even the best discussions don't amount to more than a nickel. You can write a great response, but only get a few cents. That is because that is how MyLot is. They can't afford to pay a dollar a discussion. By sticking with it, the people who are just out for fast cash fall by the wayside and the real MyLotters start contributing. You aren't doing anything wrong, and pretty soon I think you'll be surprised by how fast you 'got' to where you are. Just don't post to jokes, recipes, or intentionally provocative posts unless you do it out of care for the poster. Those discussions get deleted, along with any money you made by replying. Cheer up though. I was able to buy a pizza and a tank of gas on my first MyLot moola. And with gas as high as it is now, that's saying something! : )

Well that was good news! I loved reading that you made such an amount you could gas up the car and enjoy some pizza. I didn't know that recipes were deleted. I would think a recipe could bring a great discussion! Or it could depending on how the post was written up. Thanks for the information! How long have you been here? Have you received money from mylot more then once?

Sometimes i feel the same way as you do and i cant explain why it happens. Some days i hardly make any posts and my earnings increase a lot and some days i post five or six times the amount and get less than the day before. Either there is something we are both missing or Mylot does not update our earnings based on each day but rather over a weekly time scale.

Thanks for letting me know i'm not the only one having these problems! I have managed a little over $2 on one day & i do the same things i usually do, which is why i cant work out why doing the same things don't result in the same payments. I have had a lot of great advise though.

Well, I just like Mylot because it's a really nice site that I can respond to other people's discussions all over the world. This is a little like a chat room with perks. I wish I found this a long time ago. Now getting money for each of my responses is just a extra bonus. I really don't focus on how much I make in a day. I just go through each discussion and if I feel like I can relate or know something regarding the discussion, then I will. There are a lot of discussions that you could easily answer with one sentence, those along with the yes and no answers I don't respond to. In the long run, those will be deleted and I will lose my response and along with my earnings. So those I stay away from.

I am much like you, i only pick the discussions that i think my input would actually be appreciated in! I avoid the ones that wont need more than a few words to answer & i always post long responses coz it's easier to explain things in 10 - 15 lines that in a few words. Thank you for your thoughts!

iam also confused like u. but i think if u start a discussion and get many responses, then you may earn a lot. I am not very sure about it. but its my observation u can say. so start discuussion that interests people and then answer to those u find interesting.

I really wish I knew... I am sometimes very surprised by the amount I make, or fail to make at Mylot in a day. I have kind of given up even trying, to be honest. Now I just glance at my earnings but don't really focus on them much. It's fun to get a payout, but it's not enough for me to worry about, really. Good luck and I hope someone has the answer for you Gemmy!

In my opinion, there is no need to check your grammar of to be helpful if all you want is the money. But you could do those things if you want to help people in this forum. If you are only interested in the reward for posting, you should always try to post REAlLY long responses, not four, not five lines, but fifteen. I made one response yesterday, which had sixteen lines, and I earned five cents. That may not be a lot to you, but you are not going to earn more than that per response. Another thing I've been saying to people is: you don't have to think about giving a "quality" response, because you won't get paid for doing that. myLot doesn't have enough employees to read and avaliate each post the members make. If you want to earn money here, you have to post BIG responses. When you do that, of course you can check your grammar and try to be helpful, but first things first: post BIG responses. I'm telling you, if you spend half an hour a day doing that, you will earn 50 cents/day. I know that this is not a lot of money, but still...

My discussions & responses are always at least the box full, so it's not that i'm only posting small replies or anything like that. As i have mentioned before, i have made over $2 in 1 day but i haven't been able to do it again for a while & i haven't done anything different either. I always start with the discussions my friends have started, to reply to, then i go on to the new discussions, hot topics & things like that. I think i have only ever replied to 1 discussion with a short reply but it was only to let someone know some information & it didn't really need a long answer. Thank you anyway :)

hi! our mylot earnings for our activity/ participation today will get updated tomorrow. so don't worry too much that you only somehow got lower earnings today than your expectations. check it out again tomorrow. :) how much do you average per post, would you know? it would help to identify if you are earning more or less per post. i usually get 4-6 cents per post. i do select the discussions i respond to. they are all under my interests. i don't post often and not a lot. i religiously do a lot of tags/ keywords (at least 3) and rate the responses/comments i received in my discussions. these are the simple steps that is part of my routine when responding to discussions. hope this would help if you are earning less than 3 cents per post. :) goodluck!

I have tried the whole waiting until tomorrow thing :) Here in Australia the earnings are updated around 11pm every night - unless they make it harder coz i'm in Australia. For a while there i was getting over $1 a day & even managed $2.09 but i don't think i'm doing anything different now to what i did on those other days. I always try & fill the box - at a minimum & i always start with replying to the discuassion in my interests before goin on to the hot topics & the new topics. I might just have to try a little harder to maybe reply to more posts than usual! Thanks for your advise!

I've had that happen too, and I don't get it either. It can be very frustrating, I had a couple really good days, and I kept doing the same thing, but then my earnings dropped, go figure. Then there were a couple days when I didn't have much time here and only responded to a few discussions and my earnings went up. I'm like you, I try to respond to discussions that interest me, so that I can respond appropriapriately, and give a response of a reasonable length.

I don't blame you; I feel confused to! I think the best thing to do on here is to do it with the intent to earn money but not to focus on that. It will drive you muts otherwise, because it is such hard work for such little money. The best thing to do is to read for the love of reading and comment when your are inspired to do so and maybe even if your not. Just do it and know one day all those cents will add up. So have fun with it!

I am sorry you were so discouraged. I know what you mean by fluctuations and the pay being very confusing. It makes it very difficult to succeed when you don't know what the rules are. I got a discussion going that received more than 120 reswponses and thought it was going to make a signifigant difference to my earnings, but it didn't. From looking over this discussion I am getting that a) you posted a quality discussion that was 10 lines long. There should be no problem there. You have received more than 10 responses, so there should be no problem there. You have also replied to your comments which should also help. You clearly didn't create an 'orphan' discussion that you thought up and then abandoned. Plenty of participation and interaction. You are also at a star rating of ten. I have read that it doesn't matter in terms of earning, but the way 'quality' is stressed, I would thnk having a higher star rating would somehow be an indiciator to Mylot that you are posting qiality discussions and should be awarded accordingly. I wonder if your responders having higher ratings helps? The only other thing I can think of doing is to make sure you rate your responses and pick a best answer. On some discussion somewhere I read that you aren't creditied for unresolved discussions, but I don't know if that is true or not? I would think you are doing everything right!

Yeah it goes up and down. I havent been on here much and yet somehow I made almost a $1.00 and I dont get one but I am happy :)) This week little time some made rocks! One time I worked my butt off two days in a row. I normally only do up to 25 but two days in a row I did 32 SAME amount. The first day I made $1 something. The next day THE NEXT DAY I made $.52 HALF of what I made before or more! Why? I DONT KNOW! it all depends on those who do the judging and I dont want to judge them so I dont get it. But its odd. Sorry your confused, I dont think anyone ever gets why they make what they do!

Well you have a ten star you must be doing something right. The only answer I can give is to strive to do at least 20 or more per day plus one topic discusion. I do between twenty and 30 and I make about 75 cents per day.

Two days before I posted 2 discussions and replied a few of them and my earnings were good.Sometimes you do nothing but still your earnings are good.I think you have to post few discussions and try to upload pictures with every discussions.Participate in other members discussion.I am trying to refer my friends. How many referrals do you have? Are they active?I think you should look after the FAQ page to check how mylot calculates earnings.

Hey, Gemmygirl, I want to know how many do you post in one day and earn 24 cents? I don't earn much here. I post only 10 posts a day and I think the mylot pays me 2 cents for each post. I can see you post very hard, and such a result is really upsetting. Anyhow, you can not change it. So don't bother about it any longer. Try your best and it will get better. Good luck!

Maybe you should budget your time on replying on a discussions, posting a new discussions and uploading photos. Make sure that you reply the best or you will start a discussions that will make a lotof response, in that way you should make friends with other mylot members so you will have more responses. As much as possible you post a good quality discussions a day for great earnings. Again you need to manage your time. After all no one knows how the earnings systems here. You better try my suggestions and PM me if it works. Good luck pal!
