When you go shopping with your kids....if you are going to buy them a pack of goldfish crackers, animal crackers, cookies, etc. Do you let them open them and eat throughout the store or do you make them wait to pay?

My son always has snacks in his diaper bag, so if he is hungry when we are out he eats them. We've never let him have a snack that we haven't paid for, because it would just feel wrong to me. It's easier, IMO, to just take fruity cheerios or freeze dried fruit with us and let him have them if he needs a snack.

They must wait until we get in the car and even then, only if they behaved. If not, they must wait until we get home. My husband has let the kids eat things throughout the store before and I really dislike it. I feel like people will think we are trying to eat it up and steal it.

I have never done this kind of thing, I believe it is stealing if it is not paid for before you start eating. my dad does it though and he is 68 years old and has don it since I can remember. I hate it, he grabs a bag of chips and digs right in, I won't touch them. i gripe at him all the time about doing it, but he is kinda set in his ways. If my daughter was truley hungry and needed a snack that badly, I would pay for it then give it to her.

I go shopping with my kids and if they buy some snack that they could eat right out of a box or a bag then I make them wait until they are already paid for and we're in the driving home.

I haven't started the habit of letting my daughter snack in the store yet. She is still young enough that I haven't really had to worry about it. But I don't really plan on letting her eat in the store until I've payed for her snacks.

he is not aloud to eat anything in the store, although I will let him pick out something early in the shopping trip...kinda as a bribe to keep him good in the store. If he starts acting up, I put his treat back, as long as he's good, he knows he'll get it when we leave.

They can have anything like that they want but they have to wait till we pay for it. I want them to know they have to pay before they can have it. {dont need shoplifters!!} If its a really hot day and they need a drink I will let them have a drink of something befor we pay. Other than that NO.

I don't allow my children to eat or drink anything before we pay for it. Sometimes we will stop off at the bakery depeartment if they children are being good because they usually give the kids a free cookie. Other times I will pick up a special treat for the children for also being good inside the store. They know that as long as we are shopping that if their good they will get a treat.

I make my son wait until we check out but he can usually open a small bottle of juice or water if he really is thirsty and we need to do a lot of shopping. He enjoys going to the grocery store with me but not so much in other stores because he gets bored.
