How do you feel about hospitals?

Hospitals are a necessity, but don't you just hate them? My hubby is a chronic asthmatic, and today his breathing was so bad that I had to call the ambulance. He was put on oxygen straight away and he's now in hospital. He's had x-rays, and the doctors think it might be pneumonia which he had last year too; he was hospitalized for a week then. He has been in and out of them most of his adult life, so we've had our fare share of them; I hate the smell, the noise and all the waiting around. How about you? So if you don't see me on here much in the next few days, you know why.

I hate hospitals, I have spent the better part of 2 years there. I have a disabled child with many health conditions , so the hospital is like a second home for me. I agree the smell is awful and I'm too impatient to wait. I'm sure I'll be there by atleast next month though. I will pray for your husband and I hope he gets well. Have a blessed day.

I know exactly how you feel with your disabled child, because our first child was born with spina bifida, and has been in and out of hospitals all her life. My husband has been in an out of hospitals throughout the years, so I've had my fill of them. However, we would be in a mess without them, and the dedication of the doctors, and we have free hospitals here in Australia, so I should be grateful.

Dentists and hospitals fall into the same category - neither place is a good place to be! But they are both necessary. I just hate all the waiting around you have to go through at hospital before being seen. I should be grateful that we have free hospitals in our country.

Yes you are right that the hospital are a necessity, some of the hospitals I hate but others are great, my husband worked in the biggest hospital in Australia which is the R.N.S.H for over 20 years this is also where I was born. The doctors there are fantastic and so is the nursing staff but some of the other people that work there are dreadful. This pneumonia is very bad lately in Australia as I have now had two of my friends since December come down with this so I will be praying for your husband Abbey that he will be alright and that he will be out of hospital very soon and back home with you. I understand Abbey and I just hope that you husband will be alright for both of you.

Hi Kathy! I'm glad to say that the hospital released my hubby late last night with strict instructions and medication! He praised the doctors who saw him, they are very dedicated, and we would be in a mess without them, huh? It's all the waiting around I hate the most. Last time he had pneumonia they kept him in for a week and he hated it. Thanks for your prayers Kathy, I'm sure he will be fine now, but I was really worried yesterday.

hospitals have in one way become money mongers these days.they ahve become very commercial they dont even bother about the life of patients they need only money.this has happened in my personal life and thats bad. thatass why i ahve such bad opinions about hospitals nowadays initially things were good but not now all have become money mongers.poor patients they are the victims for such stupid cravings of the hospital management

Well after reading your comment, I should stop complaining about the hospitals in our country, because at least we still can have free treatment if we can't afford to go to a private hospital. I feel sorry for people in your country who are sick.

Hello again! I am happy to say that they released my husband last night from the hospital. He said the doctors there were wonderful, very committed, but they are so over worked (I think it's the same in most hospitals). I don't know what we'd do without them, I admire your profession very much, and your dedication. Thank you for your good wishes.

I , too , hate hospitals , but have unfortunately had my fair share of time in them . My last pregnancy was extremely difficult and I knew I would be admitted early . And so I tried hypnosis to prepare myself and it really worked . I was able to endure severe pain , extreme intervention and a medical world I'm not really comfortable with . Have you tried hypnosis ?

I am sorry to hear your last pregnancy was so difficult, and hope that you had a happy outcome. I think hypnosis is probably good for controlling pain, and glad it helped you, but not for what my husband has, pulmonary disease. But thanks for the suggestion.

A Hospital - I hate going to hospital.
i too hate going to the hospitals and try to avoid as far as i can. The most irritating thing about hospital is the smell of medicines. It really makes me sick. But there are times when you simply cannot avoid going there. I had to do that while my mother was suffering from cancer and was admitted to one.

Yes, I hate the smell of hospitals too, and the fact of having to wait for a long time before you are attended to. They are a necessity I know, so don't get sick then you wont have to go in one! Sorry to hear about your mother; may I ask how she is now ranjeet?

I hate hospitals.Just like the place or country i came from wherein if you don't have money you can just bring your patient to a government hospital where it is so dirty, hot, uncomfortable and there are 4 patients in one room, can you imagine that? It's good for a patient who has a money coz they can go to a private hospital where it is clean and there is no noise coz your the only patient in one room. It's really cool if you have money.I really don't want to stay in a hospital.

We have free hospitals in Australia, and on the whole they are very clean, but the staff are very muchg overworked, because the government isn't putting enough money into the health system.

In Singapore, hospitals are a plenty, but not free. I don't hate the smell of hospital but I just hate the waiting time to see the doctors. They normally give us an appointment time here to see the doctors. But if your appointment is at 10 am. Be prepared to be as early as the hospital staff on the morning shift. I had a sister whom had a cancer, when it my turn to accompany her to the hospital, I make sure that I come equipped. It can be very cold waiting for our turn for those ct scan or chemo. Hospital here is very clean and seriously very expensive if you engage a specialist. Its lucky that you have a free hospital. Send my regards to your hubby and you take care of yourself too. I'll say prayer for him. Take care!

It's good to hear that your hospitals in Singapore are clean, because it seems to be very different in a lot of other countries. I hope you don't have to spend too much time in them waiting around. We are lucky here in Australia to still have free hospitals, and I do appreciate that. My hubby has now been released from hospital thank goodness, and is back home. Thanks for your well wishes - I will pass them on to him.

I guess we need to learn to be more patient when waiting around in hospitals to be seen by a doctor, that is the worse thing I think. They are necessary and we would be in a mess without them.

I think that hospitals are creepy, they freak me out because so many people die there. Then again sometimes hospitals can be cheery because of the amazing life they bring to the world.

Yes, there is good and bad in hospitals, and we should be grateful for them. I do admire the doctors and their dedication; some work under such dreadful conditions to help the sick and needy, and we should applaud them. I just need to learn to be more patient when waiting around!

We have the same feelings about hospitals. My mom is currently hospitalized because of stroke. She can't move her right body, so I have no choice but to be with her and watch her. When I am inside the hospital I hate eating, and just wanted to cover my nose. But this time, I have no choice but to get use to it. Am starting to gain my appetite back inside her room.

Sorry to hear that your mother is in hospital after suffering a stroke. That happened to my mother two years ago, and she was in hospital for almost 5 weeks. I live in Australia and my mother lives in the UK so I had to go over to see her; I hated the smell there, but the nurses were very good. I do hope your mother makes a full recovery.

I have a friend like you who is scared of hospitals. I just don't like them, but we have to have them. I just wish they were better staffed so the doctors and nurses didn't have to work so many long hours.

I hate hospitals and I hate doctors. I avoid them as much as possible. I remember when I had my gall bladder taken out, they allegedly wanted to keep me in a few extra days so I could rest since I had a 9 month old at home. Well, they would wake me up all hours of the night and in the wee hours of the morning tot ake my temperature and blood pressure. How was that getting rest? Then there were elderly on the same floor, and I'm not blaming them, but it was hard to sleep when they were moaning and groaning and yelling a lot all night long. If they really wanted me to "rest" they should have sent me home! Even now, I have a congested chest and I probably should go because it does feel serious, but I hate the thought of them telling me I have to either go to the hospital or stay home from work. The doctors don't seem to realize that people work for a living and don't have the luxury of taking a few days off to recuperate.

Yes, hospitals seem to do that - wake you up early in the morning to take your temperature or give you a pill or something else! However, as much as I hate hospitals, we do need them, and it sounds like you really need to see a doctor with your congested chest; I hope it doesn't get any worse.

You probably associate your bad feeling for hospitals because of losing your grandfather in one. It must be a very hard thing to get over, but I'm sure you will, in time. They are a necessary part of life unfortunately.
