I think it depends on what site you are on. I have given away personal info to apply for credit cards, paypal and ebay. But not on sites such as this one. I like to be as safe as I can.

In my case, my bank has an online banking service and that's the only place where I submit personal data. I always make sure that whenever I submit my personal data there, it's secure (look for the padlock sign on the bottom of your browser) and safe. However, for ordinary emails or chats, I never give out personal details.

i don't really think that it's safe to give out your information. even bank accounts that are kept confidential can be hacked so information in the internet would be far more easy to use since it is open to everybody. we should be careful with posting things online cause we don't know what kind of people are out there reading or looking at what we've posted.

I don't prefer to give my personal information everywhere on the net.I use my personel information only in legal services on the net.I gave my personel information to paypal and e-gold.I use my correct name and e-gold number here and I don't think so it causes any problem for me.Well, what problem does giving my true personel information cause?I just give my name without any banking or credit card information. If some program wants me to verify my account,I can verify it.I make verification in only paypal and marketiva.
