I have no fever, cold, sore throat and haven't been yelling so should I use salt and water to gargle? Like I said I have no sore throat. Any suggestion? If I am not better in the next few days I guess I will have to see my doctor. I do want my voice back adn by the way I am deaf surely I not going mute anyway thanks .

Hi Aprilgrl, I am so sorry to hear that you lost your voice. If it isn't better, you must see the doctor, as it can be an infection from your ears. Meanwhile, be sure to take vitamin C powder packages, and keep your throat moist with a hard candy with honey. I hope you get well quickly sugar.

Probably just let your voice rest for a while. I'm sure it will be back eventually. I have never heard of anyone losing their voice for no reason. You weren't yelling alot or something were you?

I am resting my voice and no I wasn't yelling. I just woke up Sunday morning and I couldn't talk it's weired though. My husband thinks it's because of the weather changing or allergic to something. I will get my voice back. This is the first time this has ever happened to me. Thanks and I'll let you know when I get my voice back :) Have a great day.

Oh no that has to be horrible for you. If you are going to wait to go to the doctor's I'd suggest gargling with the warm salt water. Also drinking camomille tea with honey (or any tea with honey) is good for the throat. The warmth helps and the honey soothes. Honey does a lot of good. Try not to talk as well. If it's laryngitis you can make it worse by talking. So don't strain your voice. I hope it's back soon for you.

Sorry to hear you've lost your voice. I know how frustrating that can be. I recently lost my voice after having surgery and I'm just starting to sound like myself after a month. Try sipping lemon juice over crushed ice. This will help to start you on your way to getting your voice back. Hope this helps. Take care and God Bless

I'm sorry to hear about that, aprilgrl. I hope you'll feel better soon. Well, am not really sure if these would work for you, but you can try ginger tea or warm lemon juice. My mom prepares these for us if we feel like we're having problems with our voice. Sometimes, I also have sliced ginger as my 'chewing gum".. :P and it does work for me. :P

Hi , the best remedy that has worked for me is to gargle with Sage . If you can get hold of fresh Sage leaves and make an infusion with boiled water , leave to soak for a while , and gargle when cooled down , this might help !!!! Good luck

First of all, try to avoid talking.Period! You need to give your throat/voice a rest. Gargleing with salt water as often as possible is the best remedy. Use warm water and about one half teaspoon of regular salt is fine. The more time's you gargle the faster your throat willfeel better. The salt is more effective than any prescription, plus its natural, it acts much better and faster than antibiotic. For your cough, a cup of hot water with one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and two tablespoons of honey 4 times a day will help your cough..Honey will relax you and you won't feel sotensed up with your problem, which will prevent you from coughing so much..A little bit of garlic cloves in your drink is optional, but garlic is an natural antibiotic which will also help to get rid of your cold...Good luck.
