How do you get a child to stop from using bad words? I heard my child use S#*T and I have warned her once. But when she said it again, I just didn't know what to do? How would you deal with this? She's almost 4 by the way!

Well if you do need to use those words, use them as far away from her as possible and well I guess try to explain to her its wrong to use those words. I just couldn't imagine my 5 year old daughter saying those words. There's not much you can do with 4 year old daughters for being bad. I guess letting her sit on some naughty stool/corner/chair like they teach in Super Nanny could be ideal

Thats a bit of a young age to even know those words. I think that you should make sure that you dont use bad words around the house, or you warn others that come over not to as well. She's just learning by watching and listening to other people, she doesnt understand that its a bad thing to say because of her age, shes (sounds funny to say :P) simply trying to fit in. I am not suggesting you swear or anything like that, maybe people that come over or something say it. But the easiest thing to do is just try and show her that people dont say those things. Rather than tell her.

Yeah, she has definitely picked it up from some of the relatives that come over quite often. It amazes me how fast they pick up these words. But my son who is older does not say any of these words. He knows which words are not for his ears and his mouth and he is only a year older than her. Maybe you are right, she doesn't quite understand I guess! Especially since she is not saying it in a cursing way but as part of a sentence where she is just slotting the word in. I still don't like it though. Thanks anyway for your comment; )
