Windshield Wipers

I have a 92 ford thunderbird. The windshield wipers aren't working properly. Sometimes they work, most times they don't. I was wondering if it was time to swap out the windshield wiper motor, and if so, where is it located?

Well, I don't have a pic, but it's white two door 6 cylinder. I don't know if that helps at all. I just don't want to spend 250 dollars, for something I could probably do myself.
