Dealing with loss?

Scar and Mufasa - My two twin boys. Not that I can tell which one was which. It became harder over the years because they both look so much alike. I am pretty certain it was Mufasa that passed away the other day.

I recently had a cat pass away that I watched come into my life. From minute one I loved him. Now he has passed and while we had many years I am having a hard time coming to grips with also watching him leave my life. Any thoughts welcome.

We had to put down our cat a couple of years ago. It did effect me quite a bit for a time. I had to leave while the vet gave her the shot. Now, thinking about it still brings a choke to my throat. We brought her home and buried her. We still had one cat at the time, and then purchased two kittens also. All three of my cats aided in the recovery process, and they all continue to make me happy. I am not advising to obtain a replacement cat right away, but it did help for me.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know all too well what you are going through. I am still mourning the loss of my dog over six months ago. Its better now but there are days that I still think of him and cry. Pets are like members of the family and losing them can be very painful. I have a site for you to look at that might be of a help to you. http://www.petloss.com/

I lost my cat in 2005 at the age of 10, which was to young. That's her in my avatar photo. In January of 2006 I adopted two cats, then 10 years old, from the local cat rescue group. And I'm shortly going to adopt another black and white cat. You can see photos of them in my profile. And you might find some comfort and help at this website: http://rainbowsbridge.com/Poem.htm

I know how you are feeling..I've had cats ever since I was five years old ...so I've suffered a lot of deaths...it is so much like losing a family member..worse sometimes..animals can't tell you if they are in pain and give so much unconditional love...Like you I understand what you mean about having watched baby animals come into the world as I've had that experience as well...I looked at the pics of the twins..and i can't help wondering if the other cat misses his brother..I'm only down to two cats now, but I used to have a lot more..and these two that I have now are really my babes now..and very pampered I might add. People just don't understand what we go through when we do lose a pet..and some think we're out of our minds to grieve...but then in my opinion, they're the insensitive ones

I am so sorry for your loss. I understand the pain you are going through. It is like losing a child. All I can tell you is the pain gets easier to live with as the days go by. You will always remember and cherish the times you had with your cat, it's natural to grieve, but time heals and you will move on and feel better, it just takes time.
