Have you replied to the same discussion from different users ?

'When i am checking the hot topic list,I find out that someone just copy and paste a discussion, I notice that there is one discussion on the 'similar topics' which is exactly the same as the one he/she started, only the photo is different.I also notice that some members have answered to both, the answers are quite different, may be because the original one was already one month ago and their situation have changed already.'My question is Will you answer to similar/same topics from different users? Or have you replied to the same topics accidentally and noticed it after you replied? Can you really remember the topics you have replied to one week/month ago?? What will you do if you find a discussion exactly the same as the other one??

Not sure I read this right? Are you saying someone makes a post and a month later reposts the same one? I would like to think that doesn't happen. I understand though that if your post didnt' get many comments and you feel you can do a better job of writing it up then why not try again. If someone were to make a habit of it than that wouldn't be right!

Sorry may be i make it too complicated. I mean someone copy a discussion from other member, and i can see there are replies from same members in both discussions, one was one month ago and the other one is on the hot topic list today. The title and description is same in both discussions.

Not yet, but this is usual tradition at the forum: most people are eager to send their topic without to check if there are dublicates. Dublicate is acceptable if i want to give my nuance,my different point view and think that this is enought important to start new discussion what will be interesting and not annoying to the others.

I would not answer a discussion if I knew it had been copied from someone else. I don't think I have ever done this, but I have seen answers copied by others a few times. I don't think the people that steal others works last long on this site. There seems to have been quite a turnover in users over the last several months.

i guess i have replied to discussions with the same topics many times. for being here for 8 months, i forgot other discussions i had gone through and responded actually. but i always think back and recall first. but even my brain have some glitches. hehe. if i can remember that i did already reply to the same discussion days, weeks or months ago, i won't reply to the same one anymore. it might yet be deleted after sometime. so, better not to. is the discussion you've seen completely similar to the other one? really a copy-pasted one? if so, that's so rude of the person to copy paste from someone's work. i hope will be reported to the moderators and be acted upon. happy myLotting!

in that case, that is already against the rules and should be reported. that's sad. there are lots of discussions we can start of and yet there are people who just copy paste. i hope they learn someday.

Of course, you have 7570 posts ,how can you remember which one you have replied to before. Yes, the discussion is 100 % the same as the other one, only the picture is different.

I've answered to a topic twice but it was not intentionally. The discussion was so old and had many responses that I forgot I responded.I found several discussions with the same topic. If its copy/pasted I wont respond, but if its similar and a different user then maybe I will it really depends.

Discussions on the same or similar topics can be of a varying nature in matters of content, arguments and solutions. Except in instances of exact copying , similar discussions are not to be discouraged as there is no restriction to human thinking.

The discussions here are too many and sometimes accidentaly it is possible memebers respond the same discussion from different memebers. I have replied a lot of same discussions here but if I see before I have already responded to another same, I don't respond.

I sometimes reply to similar discussions, but I don't know if they were copied and pasted. I sometimes feel so strongly about a topic that I will post to as many discussions on that topic as I can find. If people are copying and pasting the same discussion over and over, than that's pretty bad. It's even worse when someone else is stealing other people's discussions that way. If I notice this, I would report it. But, it's hard when they are far apart in time.

when finding a copy&paste one that is word for word I look to see whos is the oldest for that will be the one copied from thats when we report it to my lot. and then there are alot pretty close to the same subject by different people I look to see if I responded to it then I dont respond to one of them for its like the subjct on smoking there are alot of them in here

True, some topics are very general in nature and i do not see anything wrong to start a similar topic with other members and there are many ways to ask,but if it is 100% copy and paste, it will be different.

Oh yes, I have done it, many times probably, if I was to think about it. After I answer all my friend's discussion I usually will go looking for something to respond to and there is always several discussions going on with the same topic, if the first topic interested me I will always respond to it again, never the same response, I try to make mine my own words, so yes I do answer the same topic, sometimes even the same day or same hour.

I can't remember all discussion I responded to but there is a big chance I can recall that I have already responded to the same discussion. So far I have not seen any copy and paste discussion but I will reponse to it since I already have an answer in mind. What's the guideline for copy and paste discussion? Is there any?

If something is identical with other discussion, we can say that it is a copy and paste stuff. If not, they are just being similar and it is fine.

First , I must say that for newbies copy and paste functions are disabled. That means only persons with more than 500 score can copy and paste. Secondly, it is not only unethical to post the same material and replies again and again but against the rules also. I don't know how MyLot tackles this problem of repeating the same answers. Only the senior members on this forum can say better. I know in another forum where I am a member, you are not allowed this. If one tries to post the same material twice, their software immediately detects and your post is disallowed. May be they should do the same in this forum also.

I am not thinking fast that someone just stolen,easy...here is almost 100 000 people and for sure the most usual post was done until now,for us will be the best chance to use our imagination at maximum... Yes,i replied at similar discussion and the most usual similar discussion is about new users which come in mylot and need our"welcome"...but here will be all time similar discussion,i think... I saw in my short life in mylot a lot similar discussion...and i guess a great job for not make a mistake is to search in mylot "discussion" for see if someone had same idea like you...(but sad, even me i do this after i post..lol) augusta

I have already reached an understanding by now that we are supposed to write/notify the admin about things like this going on around here. It would be wise to do so in order to be rid of people who are scamming here with our time and efforts.

Of course, you are right,I even had a misunderstanding with other members before as I started a similar discussion of her, but the topic was about mylot earning, it was something gereral. The one I just saw in the hot list topics is exactly the same as another one. I think there is no problem for someone to start similar topics, even this one i stared may have been similar to the others, but as long as it is not 100 % copy and paste,it will be fine, isn'it?

Frankly I have done it several times. The way I see it, each discussion is a conversation with a different person but almost the topic such like someone asking the tip in mylot so I do not care if I have already responded to another person about that. If it is a topic that interests me, I will response about it again, but actually I never post and copy the topic in my new discussion. It does get aggrivating when people just copy and paste someone else's topics, it is really unfair to those of us that are actually doing our own work

You are right. In fact it is unfair to everyone who reply to the copy and paste discussion as they will have their earning deducted as also spend some time on it.

Yes i have responded to similar discussions. Sometimes you dont even remember that you ahve responded to something similar a while back. Most of us here have all answered more than 500 discussions and its not possible to remember each and everyone of them. So invariably, yeah we do sometimes even respond to the same discussion again.

I can't remember what topics I replied to this morning .. never mind a few weeks ago .. remembering 'unimportant' things is difficult for me .. my fibromyalgia gives me a few concentration and memory problems .. Often I notice there are similar discussions though .. you see them near the bottom of the page ... sometimes it's quick and easy to just rehash what you put in one discussion to fit in with the second ..

That very same thing happened to me before and what worst it is the very same discussion that the other person copied gee!! I really hate that member and he is on my friends list that's why I notice that he never answer my discussion he only spy on it and copy it gee. worst member!! What I did is report that member and the said discussion because if he wants to stay as a credible member he should know how and when to start a discussion and not by copy paste alone. I never answer in a discussion that was familiar to me because there is a tendency that it was copied somewhere else. Thanks easy!

I come onto mylot to find variety, and so I seldom reply to the same topic more than once, but I do read them just to see if any new point has been raised or noted. Many times, I find the responses to such a topic more interesting and engrossing than the topic itself, and see myself commenting on the comment instead!
