There are either crime drama's (I watch one of them), sitcoms that destroy the Male/Father role in society and make the children out to be the smart ones who disrespect their parents (and this is okay, NOT) or shows about the spiritual realm. This is not right. Pretty soon, I will not be watching TV anymore. The radio will be my friend or dvds. What do you think about today's television shows?

I have been saying the same thing for a long time. In fact I asked in a previous discussion what other members thought about the lack of child appropriate TV these days. Here is the link if you are interested. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/716107.aspx I think that some of the stuff on television is terrible. I am disappointed in the morals of the people who put these shows on the air. No wonder our society is such a mess.

Thank you and yes, I agree with you. But TV is only 1/3 of the problems in our world do you agree? There are movies, bullies, parents who do not spend time with their children, etc., that are the cause of our societal break down. What happened to God being in our schools? Oh right, we can "thank" Madelyn Murry O'Hare for taking God out of our schools, NOT!

I agree that TV isn't the only problem. All of the other things that you have mentioned are to blame too. It's time to bring God back into our schools where he belongs, and start bringing morals back into our society. Thanks for the best response!

I think it depends on the kind of television shows and how the directors, actors and actresses does a show. And the kind of story they are doing is it really worth watching? Is it interesting? Do you get moral lesson from that. But I think most of the television shows nowadays are not good and most of them does give people bad influence and violence especially to the children.

Right. When my twins begin to watch TV, if I let them, it will not be from any shows on UPN or WB.. And, I will have to watch it with them and ask them what they learned from this show? Was it worth their wile to watch it for 30 or 60 minutes.

Yes I have found out that when we get together at my Sister's house with my Mom and because of my Sister's Daughter there aren't really any shows that we can watch as a whole family with my sister's daughter because of the violence. Just because of all the gore and killing there is on TV these days. You can't even watch the News with out seeing about once or twice a week about some person getting murdered. That's why I think TV is getting worse and worse these days, is that you can't watch any shows with your whole family if you have young childeren.

For me, it would depend on the person watching. You watch for entertainment and for fighting boredom because watching TV is really fun. I am a TV addict before, but I had been busy in school and other stuff. I really have nothing against television shows although I agree that there are some contents there that are not appropriate anymore but guiding is still the main action you have to do. It is the choice of the person watching to be like what they saw there.
