What is your scariest highway story?

Last night my husband and I were driving on the highway behind one of those big-rig 18 wheeler trucks. All of a sudden, I guess one of the truck's tires blew because huge pieces of tire came right at us. Most of them hit the car but some hit the windshield. I was absolutely terrified but luckily my husband kept his mind about him and kept the car going straight since he couldn't go into any other lane. Luckily, also, that no pieces broke our windshield because I have heard so many stories about that happening. The whole thing was terrifying and the smell of rubber was added to the whole scary scene. The smell stayed with our car for several hours afterwards but my husband has checked the car today and there is no apparent damage. God was obviously with us. Have you ever been hit by a big-rig tire?

I didn't used to be afraid of them, many, many moons ago, but for the past few years, I have heard way too many stories which have caused me great concern.
