want to see the lights!

I've always wanted to go to Vegas. I'm not a real big gambler, but I would love to see all the shows, go to the resturaunts and just walk around to see all the cool buildings. Truth be told, I get a little freaked by the thought. Blame it on CSI (a tv fav) or just being from a smaller town, but I get nervous thinking about will I get lost, am I going to get mugged, maybe I'll be missing something super cool and am going to regret it. If you've been, can you lend me some tips on decent places to go, shows to see or even some family(small children) friendly places to check out?

I feel a lot the same way as you. I would love to see it all, see the shows and the lights. I am not really a gambler though, I have played slots a couple times and I do like Bingo (does that count as gambling? LOL) but I'm not into anything else. I would hate to waste my money. I have heard that there are prositutes hanging out all along the strip handing out their business cards and that just grosses me out.

I'm pretty much a slot player myself. We go to Foxwoods in Conn once in a while and that's all we really do. My husband likes to play the tables once in a great while, but we know we're not that good so we tend to stay away. Our rule of thumb for the money.... Keep a certain amount for gambling and don't go over. If we win a few bucks, we try to put most of it back in our pocket for food or the trip home. Although I could see myself going a bit nuts simply because it would be Vegas. I'd probably send most of my time seeing shows or eating and drinking. Two of my favorite things;) As long as it's fun I guess that's all that matters!

They may be illegal in Clark County, but they are around, if you know what to look for. They hangs out in the hotel lounge bars in late hours. The cards/brochure that they passes out on the strips are escort services, and I can bet you they do something else if you have the money.

I am curious how those people gets paid, most of the cards/pamphets end up littering the street. I am surprise the city don't have any problem with it, someone got to clean them up everyday.

I've never been to Vegas, but my mother in law visits Vegas almost 4 times a year, this year I may get a chance to go with her. I have yet to experience it. But I hear it is very casual, you can be yourself and there are TONS of places to go. I wish I could tell you more, but like I mentioned even I've never been there.

It must have been cool to see the CSI people out and about. I love that show. Mostly Greg and Grissom. Who doesn't. I think I heard of a building there with a roller coaster on top of it. Am I right or am I thinking of somewhere else because Seattle also comes to mind. Maybe it's both?

Um, CSI is not filmed in Las Vegas. They film on location about 1% of the time and that's only if it is impossible ro recreate a landmark location. Everything is done on sets in LA.

P.S.: However, they do use the local newscaster, Paula Francis, for the news clips they have in the show.

Going to Las Vegas these days is a piece of cake.If you'd like to see the shows and go places, leave small children at home. That's my feeling. There are 44 casinos in Las Vegas, and many shopping malls. Look online who plays Vegas and you can plan some actions.(Celine Dion is at Caesar Palace till December.) You will not get lost and you will not get mugged on the Strip. We felt very safe. It's an attractive place to see.

Some of the shows are nice, but they're very expencive and mostly overpriced for what they are.

You can bet your butt that I would love to leave my kids behind, but we have 3 small boys and finding someone to watch them for a night is difficult enough. Although I'm sure in 10-15 years it might be possible. Are there any places near Vegas with possible little one friendly attractions?
