I usually turn mine onto vibrate only when I get to a situation that a mobile will interupt me. It's usually at work when I am not allowed to answer it & I can feel it vibrate in my pocket & just scream inside that the call could be important & I can't answer.

My mom had given me a ride to the doctor's office and I had waited two hours or more to get into the room to see the doctor and when I went in my mom came in with me. Well just as the doctor came in and sat down and started to talk and I was answering questions, mom's cell phone rang and she answered it and started talking! I couldn't believe it. I was really bothered by that and it wasn't even an important call either. So she turns off her cell phone at the doctors office now [when she remembers!].
