My internet connection is driving my crazy..Just a last week or so it began creeping... faster than a dial up connection but not much..... It is on both laptop and desktop but my desktop is a slow computer anyway....I normally use a wireless connection on my laptop... My connection is encrypted and I can see no other users on my network. I have run ad aware, spybot S&D and avast to get rid of anything hidden but at this point all is coming up okay....I have unplugged and rebooted every modem, router and computer..... Does anyone know why it might be so slow? I hate to call tech support for the cable company because they end up sending someone to the house and i have to be at home all day because they never give definite times... any more suggestions before the dreaded call?

Check out my reply above, there is link there that will help you test and tweak and computer for better speed. Hope that helps. When it doubt though, call your ISP if you can't resolve the speed issues yourself.

i think there is network congestion due to which you are getting less speed.also check whether there is a good network coverage in your area.cantact your isp and ask him for a solution.

This happens to me when there are too many people trying to use the connection at once, when too many subscribers to the same company are trying to connect, or are connected and trying to use the internet at the same time.

There are all kinds of things that can slow your internet down. What I would check first is your ISP. Many have online web support pages that you can check to see if they are doing work on the lines or are in the middle of upgrades that could be slowing your connection down. This is a good place to check since it just started. What I would suggest next is going to http://www.dslreports.com/tools and run some of the tests there. You can run a speed test to see how fast or slow your line speed really is, as well as tests to check your line quality and also for ways you can tweak your computer settings to make your internet faster. This website is a great resource of information and definetly worth checking out. Best of luck to you.
