There is no doubt that today we are more technologically advanced than 25 years ago. The proliferation of technology (cell phone, cars, computers, video games, TVs, etc) may have had an impact on kids obesity. What do you think??

While technology has played it's part in adding to obesity it can't take all the blame. Especially if we're looking at young children, and kids in their early teens. Parents have a say on how much time kids are spending in front of the TV, Computer, or Video Game. Parents also play a part in getting out and taking their kids to the park or hiking, or to play a sport. I think that a lot of it lands on the parents shoulders. When I was a kid we rarely sat inside doing anything. We were always out, at the park, hiking, playing sports - something. That has carried over into my adult life, and I'd much rather be out doing something active than sitting inside!

I am with you julianmom. i have limited my kids time in front of TV to let say 30min. They play a lot and burn calories doingthat. I doubt you can do that with a video game.

It has increased but as a teenager unless someone stays inside for a stupid amount of hours then it can't be totally bad. I love sport and cannot see why people hate exercise so much- if i was given the choice to saty inside and play a computer game on my own or go out with my mates and have a game of footy then i would choose the game of footy all the time. that simple- I am not wooried that i'll get hot and sweaty and worn out, I just want to have a game of football. I cannot see a reason why someone would want to stay inside all day it would be so boring and to help reduce weight among other things go outside for a run about with friends. I find going out really good fo my health for two reasons. Firstly when I stay inside on those horrible winter days I find that not only do I go on the computer or telly more but also because I am so bored hunger is in my mind a lot more- and the only thing I really want is chocolate because it will fill me up, however when I go outside and play it takes my mind off food and sometimes I will not eat for a whole day, this is not the start of starving myself to get thin, because I am already thin and when I get back from being out I will have a good meal which wil fill me up but it will also be a healthy meal. The second reason going out is good for me is because I am running about and exercising.

I agree with you. Being inside is so boring I can not understand it. But what about working. SOme people have to workk 10-12 hours in fornt of a computer. there in way out of that. What a problem?
