How do you choose your best responses?

Is longer always better? Do you truly read them all and decide or just go through perhaps the first and last page, depending on how many responses you have?

In my view, though best response is the privilege given to the poster yet it's a responsibility. Some people are hasty to chose best response or just don't spend time/work hard in choosing one. They either give to it some friend or a long response, however irrelevant that might be, but this all is against the spirit of best response. It should not be awarded to someone because of friendship, neither should someone be deprived of it just because he/she has crossed swords with you somewhere else but rather it should be on merit. It should be to someone who has provided most thoughtful answer and to someone who is most helpful in understanding of the subject presented in the post. Merit is what makes it a hard work. I myself don't have many discussions but the ones i have, for me it was sometimes difficult to decide and it took much time to decide. I read and reread all my responses at least two times before deciding for best response just in a hope to make it on merit. I have sometimes given best response to someone who didn't agree with me just because he/she was pertinent and thoughtful as well as judicious with the subject in hand.

I read all the responses. The one that answers all my question the best is deemed the best. Or if there is no wrong answer,I pick the one that is written the best. This is the one place where size doesn't matter. I have deemed a best reponse that was a sentence long. And then there was one that was a page long.I don't care how long. it just has to be good.

I do n't select the best responses for my posts. I select sometimes such answers which are according to exactly my wish. Sometimes, i see all answers & see the answer which has the best quality & knowledge. I read all the answers instead of from the 1st & last page & finally, select the best answer.

Did you know that if you do select best responses your earnings seem to rise? I didnt realize that until someone else posted that and I tried it. It does really work. I try to do maybe 5-10 each day of best responses.

Oh weird! I rare ALL of my discussions, the people who answer them, and haven't noticed any increase! LOL I think we're all confused how we actually make the money!

I used to wait about two weeks now everything is so screwed up I don't know where I'm at anymore. I had it down to about 4 pages and faithfully give at least 5 or 6 a day. Now there are pages back again from 4 months ago and I have been receiving best answers for the 2nd time from discussion I answered weeks and months ago.

I always go through all of the responses. The one who has the response that fits the discussion topic the best gets the best response.

I always wait about four or five days as this gives everyone a chance to give their thoughts on the topic. I would give a best response rating to the person who answered my questions clearly and accurately.

Sometimes it's a very hard task to choose the best response. Longer isn't always better, for me the wittiest is better LOL! I'm usually waiting many weeks, sometimes even months before I choose the BR, and it happened many times that almost immediately after I made my choice somebody does give a perfect response. Perhaps we should have 3 options, bronze, silver, and gold LOL?

i always read every single response i get, hahaha i never seem to get that many so its not too hard. I also rate each and every one. The vast majority of these i give a plus rating to. The only ones i give a negative rating to are the one or two word answers. As for best answer. I will wait a week and then read all my responses again. I give best response to the one I feel has given the fullest and best thought out answer to the question set blessed be

I rate all of them with + , but sometimes i forget to mark the best one. And it depends of my mood, i decide impulsively. No formulas about it.

I do read them all...and it is very hard to choose the best one sometimes... I like LordWarWizards medals so he can honor and show appreciation to more than the BR...I have chosen a BR in the past and had someone post later with an equally good or better response...what then? Oh, well, we aren't working with perfection here..( I know I'm not!) LOL..so whatever floats your boat!!!

I'm not even sure the BRs really mean much. I was just curious if others really do use them or if they just hit a button to move on.

I really do go through and read each and everyone. If I am having a really hard time choosing and it is between a friend and someone I dont' know I have to admit I will give it to my friend. Only if I am having a hard time choosing between the two though!

Hello,hockethal4ever,I have a problem of not being able to choose the best response now.:( When I was chosing the best response before, i would try to see whether the reply sticked to the discussion well, but honestly it might be a little bit hard as most of the replies were fo good quality. I would read all the responses no matter how many replies i received, sometimes i felt that I was guilty because I had given the best response to one member but it did not mean that the others are not good, they still deserved for it but unluckily I could give one in between all of them.

I agree, most of the one answer people have been weeded out by MyLot I think!

Not really sure yet. So far I have just made it up as I go along. Once I picked a best response and then there were even better responses that came later. Once you have decided there is no changing your mind, so in future I will go with the flow for a couple of days and then decide. I think it is better to choose a best response because of the quality of the post. Does it answer the question? Is it interesting to read and well thought out? Those are the questions we should ask ourselves when reading through. Or else just pick the best one that you think and don't worry about it too much! lol. We all have our own different ways of doing it.

I've done that too. Chosen my best response and then literally minutes later someone else comes along and I go ... wow.. what a great response! LOL I wait at least a week or so to pick my BR's too. Unless it's about something that is very time specific, like some of my hockey talk.

I think it is best to wait a few days and hopefully by then you will have a good idea of which one is the best one. Trouble is, there is often several candidates for best response so it can be tricky. I usually do read through them all and rate them before choosing my best response. If I actually had lot of pages of responses it might not be so easy to choose. I don't think that bigger is better in this case! ;) I think quality is better than quantity.

Well at first I wait at least a week. I think people are on at all different times and I want to give people a chance to respond if they want to. Then every time I get an e-mail saying some responded I’ll take a look- and that’s when I rate each response. I try to remember any of the ones I think are great- I do look at them all when choosing. If I find that several of the responses are great I always pick the first one. I can’t think of any other way that would be fairer.

I think it's only fair to read what others say and then choose after a few weeks or so. I wait at least a few weeks. Then, if their response hits-a-cord; tugs at my heart, I will give it the best response whether it's short or long, doesn't matter.

If response had satisfacy my ask and possible asks (that i don't though) then will win best response. If is very informative then I will mark as best response. If user have intention of help me with my problem (show me all ways possible) then I will mark. And if only that user reply my discussion I will give my best response.
