Is homemade pizza a healthy food? As people can put different kinds of vegetables and a bit of cheese as toppings, how would you think?

If you use the right ingredients a homemade pizza can be healthier then a store bought. Using a whole wheat crust is a nice start. I usually use a white garlic sauce in place of a red sauce. Low fat cheese and vegetables. Sometimes we will add chicken sausage as well.

I think home-made pizza can be healthier than store bought, but it all depends on what you use to make it. It can be unhealty too, if you use a lot of high fat meats (sausage, bacon, hangurger), and a lot of cheese and oil. What I like about making my food at home, and this includes pizza, is that I can control what's in it so I know how much fat, and what type (healthy fat like olive oil, or bad trans fat) I am eating. This makes it much easier to monitor your diet...and your wallet. I like the idea of using whole wheat crust. I also use a lower fat cheese and more vegatables than meat. Carmelized onions are a really good topping with a lot of flavor. I also like mushrooms, olives, and spinach.

The way I make it, it's healthy. I like a whole wheat crust, tomato sauce, and lots of veggies but no cheese.

I think it could be depending on what you put on it. You can get a dough that is lower in calories. Especially if you don't use red sauce and alot of cheese it could be very healthy.

I think that pizza can be healthy depending on what you put on it, if you make a veggi lovers pizza and make sure you use low fat toppings it will be very healthy for you.

I think that as with anything it can be good home made and good for you just will depend on what you use ingredient wise. Espif you use low fat meats or go all veggie and lite cheese. Can't be too bad :) Just eat in moderation and it can not be too bad. :)

I think homemade pizza is healthy mainly because you choose what you put on that pizza. First ofcourse no pizza is complete without tomato sauce...tomato sauce as well know is a very good source of lycopene. Lycopene helps us prevent some forms of cancer. Then there is always cheese. Cheese being a dairy product is a good source of calcium. We choose the veggies we put there...mushroom is a good choice. Mushrooms are los in carbohydrates, calories and sodium and are cholesterol and fat free. Some research suggest that soem mushroom substances helps kills bacterias and viruses.
