Yup... Definitely... Harris is a bit more dumbledorish than gambon... He looked wise n cleaver.. But this DD(Gambon) looks more commanding which is not a characteristic of DD

Without a doubt richard harris was a better dumbeldore. He fitted my picture so much better and convyed the benovalance and goodness that the books portray in him. While micheal gambon may look the part he is in my opinion a very second rate dumbeldore.

ya, the older dumbeldore was better no doubt. the new one has a sharp and mean look. the older one looked very soft-hearted and calm.

i liked the older Dumbledore. i somehow felt he was more 'true' to the Dumbledore KJ Rowling describes a sharp intelligent man masking his intelligince with his silly humour. The new one in Azkban and Goblet is not very 'bad' but he simply cant seem to convey the aura of Dumbledore remeber the old one even when he joking with HArry in the hopital scene in the first movie we 'know' he is a powerful wizard...and that what Dumbledore is all about :)

I'm actually torn on this question. At first I loved the first Dumbledore and thought that no one could ever play like him, but then again, Gambon isn't bad. I think that Richard Harris was able to capture the gentle and wise part of Dumbledore, but I think that Gambon portrays his mischievous side and energy better. Granted Richard Harris was not well when he was portraying Dumbledore, but I do think that Gambon has that part of Dumbledore down. That and his eccentricity. The first time I saw the new Dumbledore, I was really kind of depressed, and thought the movie was ruined, but I think now I prefer Gambon. The point is that both actors did an excellent job portraying such a loved character.

Richard Harris was much better as Dumbledore then the new actor. It might help if the new one actually read the books. I heard he hasn't. He has no real clue on to the information that helps to create the character except for what is in the script. Perhaps if he delved into the character a bit more he could do a better job but at present he does not seem to embody the character of Dumbledore as Richard Harris did.

I liked the first Dumbledore better. He played the part to perfection, just how I imaged him in the books. It's a shame that he passed away... The second Dumbledore, he's only OK. He filled the part but he's not outstanding.

I def. liked the older Dumbeldore more. I'm not saying I don't like the new one..i mean I like the actor who plays him. but I think the older actor was a better dumbledore.

I LOVED the original Dumbledore. I can't say I hate the new one, but definitely liked the original better. I just do not like the attitude, dress, and the fact that he wears his beard in a bloody poney tail really bothers me the most sadly....LOL

I like the older Dumbledore. There is something about the old one that seemed wise. The new one just doesn't seem like he is filling the older one's shoes very well.

Yes, I liked the old Dumbledore better because he was the Dumbledore that I imagined when I read the books. The new Dumbledore, although he does capture some aspects of Dumbledore like still strong even though he's old and stuff, is too firm and bouncy for me.

Definitely. He played the kindly old man that you could see he pretended to play the fool at times but was sharp underneath and shouldn't be underestimated. Michael Gambon just isn't as true to the character and I hate the silly accent he puts on. He puts on a poor Irish twinge at times because Richard Harris was Irish, but it just sounds wrong and grates on me.
