Do you have any fear that you would really love to conquer? Or is there a fear that you have conquered? If you conquered that fear how did you do it? I used to be really afraid of heights but really wanted to go skydiving. So about 4 years ago I decided to go skydiving. I got myself really pumped up about it so I never really got scared until I saw them open the door to the plane and saw the first group of people jump. That's when I knew my time was next. I did a tandem jump so we stood at the edge of the plane and just jumped. It was the most amazing thing I've ever done in my life (well besides going through childbirth). The rush you get from free falling is amazing. And after you pull the chute and glide down it's just so exhilirating and refreshing. So what is your biggest fear you would like to conquer or have conquered?

Hi cynddvs, How are you? Well, I think that you are very brave to have gone sky diving. I used to want to do that when I was younger but never did and would not try it now. I am too old for that! My fear is the water. I love the water and I want to swim in the ocean or in a deep lake and not be afraid. I am afraid of drifting out too far on the ocean or getting caught in an undercurrent/undertow. I went to Florida and we went to "Rainbow River". It was beautiful. I went out into the water with my friend , and her sons' were in the middle of the river on a sandbar. Once my feet left the bottom of the river I panicked and her son had to come and get me over to the sandbar. I was using a styrofoam noodle but I was still afraid. Perhaps this summer I will overcome my fear of the water. Thanks for the great discussion, take care...

That must have been one scary adventure. But do you see what you did? You were so comfy in the water that the undertow did not even affect you. You obviously went with the flow, excuse my pun, not intended. I would freaked long before you did. I am glad to hear of your happy ending....keep on swimming...take care...

My mom is also afraid of the water. Anytime we go to the beach she won't go any further if the water comes above her waist. The only time I've been scared in the water was when I was snorkeling in Hawaii. We had just seen a shark but it just swam past us and didn't pay attention that we were there. But after seeing that we were ready to get out of the water lol. Well we started swimming back and I thought I was following everyone. I just kept swimming and swimming and started realizing it was taking forever to get back to the beach. So I decided to stand on some coral to see how far I had to go. My friends were already on the beach and I had gotten caught in an undertow and had been swimming even further in the ocean and didn't realize it. Talk about being freaked out LOL. I finally made it back to the beach and was much more careful after that.

I'm scared no, petrified of dogs. If I come within a few feet of them I start to panic, and a couple of times I have fainted. It is something that I have tried to "cure" but nothing thus far has worked. Incidently, after having children the fear increased.

I'm sure your fear has increased since having kids. Now you not only have to be afraid for yourself but for your kids as well. I've never really had a fear of animals since I've grown up around them. Right now my daughter doesn't have a fear of animals. But I am going to have to teach her which animals she needs to be afraid of.

That is a scary fear that I haven't thought of yet. My grandparents are still driving and they are in their mid 70's. And my fiances grandfather is still driving and he will be 82 this June. So I think they are doing pretty good.

I have three big fears- water, mice, snakes! I am so terrifeid of those three things that it is hard for me to even write about them. I would like to get over my fear of water so that I could take the kids swimming in the summer. I almost hyperventilate if the water from the shower hits me in the face. It is really bad!! I won't even attempt to take swim lessons as I am too terrified that I would drown. I cringe when the kids are in the water and go under as I can almost feel the water on my face. I am scared of mice and snakes about the same. If there is a mouse in the house, I am on the table standing until it is gone. I also don't sleep well if I have seen one and we havent trapped it. What creepy things!!

My Greatest fear is being alone,I can't stand thinking that I'll be alone. I mean being alone sometimes is fine but not for extended periods of time because I kinda start freaking myself out but not on purpose. I live in a dorm room rigt now so I can never truely be alone if my roommate was gone with her boyfriend all I would have to do is open the door and people from up the hall stop by and talk.

In all honesty, I would love to be able to conquer my fear of flying in an airplane. I am so afraid I'm going to come crashing down to the earth in a flaming ball. I feel that it is so unsafe to be doing. I also understand that they are super safe and that there are huge amounts of safety checks before each flight takes off and all of that. However, I know that I have control of my car, and on a boat, I can swim, and on a train, well, very few trains around here go fast enough that we'd be hurt to badly if they did happen to crash. I just feel that if I were meant to fly, I'd have wings, and I don't.

Well i have many fears but i would have to say my biggist fear would be the fear of failure. I have lost so many things in my life because of this because i was so convinced i would fail so i wouldnt try. I thought it was easier that way but it hurt just as bad not knowing if i could you know what i mean. I am not totally over my fear but i am getting better everyday i am constantly trying new things and setting big goals and i hope to soon conquer my fear. Life is to short not too.

I have a stage fright. I don't want to step on stage unless or to be in front of many people. I really get nervous when I'm on stage and I don't know what to do. It really affects my studying because in school we have to do a lot of reportings and role playing as our performances.
