There has been a rumor going on saying that Myspace is going to charge users $21.00 a month. Supposedly, it was brought by a larger company or because Tom is in debt. Note that this is a rumor, but can also be true. I think it's a bad idea if Myspace because I fear that everyone will leave the site, or at least those that I know who can pay for it. What's your opinion of this?

Does no one trust Tom? I mean come on he tells everyone that such rumors as this are untrue all the time. We should put more trust in him because he brought myspace into existence and he has no real reason to lie about such things. Besides if he were actualy going to sell it or start charging money he would tell us for 1 very important reason: He would not want to make so many users mad.

Yeah, I now know that it's just a rumor. I logged into Myspace last night and Tom left me(as in all of us) a message letting us know that it's a rumor started off by users. After all, if Tom decides to charge Myspace, then whats another alternative? Thanks for your response!

All these rumors fly around and yet no one ever cites any sources for the information. I never believe anything until I hear it from a credible source. And none of the MySpace rumors are ever backed up with anything.

Absolutely untrue....at least for that amount of money. However, since Tom sold MYSPACE to Fox that rumor may have a bit of truth to it: "Members can still stay on free, but with limited and lesser features. Myspace has grown to be a feature rich online community, and we feel that participants will gladly pay a fee.Turner explains, "By our estimates, if only 10% of the current members sign up, of which we anticipate more of course, that's roughly $25,000,000 a month, which isn't a bad position for us at all." However, the fee is supposed to be $5 monthly, and it still hasn't started yet. The other 22.50 one is a complete hoax. If you look at the bottom it says Tom's rights ended in 2007, and that is where that rumor came from. Pure rumor.
