My daughter almost died today!

We spent a beautiful day at the beach. The beach runs along side of a very busy highway. When we got ready to leave, a friend of my husbands had come with us, and he was up at the van that was parked right beside the highway. Literally there is enough room on the drivers side of the van to just open the door...barely! Well, the stupid bleep bleep bleep leaves my two year old baby in the DRIVERS seat! We were a longgggg ways from the van. I look up from gathering all the toys to see her open the drivers side door (which you could barely see because it was so far away). I've never ran so fast in my life!!! I actually passed up my husband. Well, when we got up to the van, I went to jump up on the pier. I didn't make it, but my husband did and thank God we got there in time. If she would of got out any further, she would of been killed for sure! I'm so thankful that she's ok!Well, I SLAPPED the holy living crap out of his friend. My heart beat still hasn't returned to normal. I cried for hours. I could of lost my baby today... I didn't though, so I'm very very very thankful for that. When I said that I didn't make it up on the pier though, ugh...I slammed my knee into the pier. It was black and blue instantly and had a small knot on it, now it's the size of Kansas....I won't be able to walk tomorrow, but I still have my baby~! Thank you God!

Your little girl is beautiful !! I can see why you would have been freaking , I would have been freaking as well , but thank goodness she was safe . I would have been pissed off if someone left my little one alone as well as it shows how easy they can get out get hurt because of one mistake . I bet he felt bad about this and will think the next time . I am glad your little one is fine and it is situations like these that show us just how important our family is to us :) Take Care !!

I am happy you still have your daughter. That can be sooo scary. My son once was walking on the ledge of the balcony railing. He was 5 and there was a group of ten or more 8-12 year old kids yelling.. do it do it. I heard this from the bathroom and went running out. When I saw him, I don't remember how I got to the balcony, but I did. Then I proceeded to cuss out a group of kids. I know it was wrong, but they all knew what he was going to do and were egging him on. Thank God your baby is ok Steph.

God was looking out for your baby today. But I bet it taught your friend a valuable lesson. I bet they think twice before leaving a toddler in a car. I'm very glad to hear it turned out good for you. I hope your knee gets better soon. Small price to pay for the life of your child Huh? I bet your friend will feel guilty about that for a long time.

Oh my word! How scary. I'm So Glad that your daughter was ok!!! I can't believe your hubby friend would be so stupid as to leave a 2 year old in the driver seat of the van by herself. I would have more than slapped the living crap out of him, he probably would have been in the hospital if it would have been me doing the hitting. I'm sure my hubby would have gone off on him too. Hope your leg gets to feeling better soon too.

I'm glad she is ok. Sometimes people just don't think. I don't know if it is because they don't deal with it day to day or if they are just careless. I hope that your knee is ok. You might want to have it looked at if the swelling doesn't go down. Settle down and thank your lucky stars that things turned out so well.

Goodness Steph and I know how you felt I am glad that you managed to safe her When my Daughter was 2 we went to a Fairground I asked if it was safe for my little Girl to go on the ride and they said yes it was Well my Ex Husband sat in one carriage with my son and my Daughter with me I put the belt on her and it looked safe enough I held onto her as we went up in the air my Daughter started slipping the belt broke and the Carriage was spining in the air I was screaming and holding onto my Daughter with my Life it took them a while to notice down there that there was a Child swinging in the air and the gently stopped the ride if they would have stopped it suddenly I would have lost my Grip When we got down I got Hysterical and I was shouting and screaming at the bloke He said that he could not understand why the belt came undone as they always do security Checks I felt like hitting him It was the worse experience in my Life I never took her on another ride unless it was on the ground

Oh blimey!! God was certainly watching out for you and your baby today, and He did his job well. I don't blame you for slapping the holy crap out of your husbands friend though. He really didn't use his brain at ALL, and I'm sure he must be feeling terrible now. I do hope he apologized to you. I'm sorry you slammed your knee into the pier though. I have problems with my knee stemming from it not healing properly after an accident as a youngster, and I can testify to the pain it can feel. However, you still have your daughter and thats the main thing. Try to relax. Have a soak in the bath and if you have some Radox muscle soak bath salts, use them - they'll help your knee. Try not to let things get to you now. remember that you're all safe and that your daughter is fine. God Bless you and yours.

Oh my goodness! I am so glad that your husband got to her in time. The angels were looking out for your baby today. Did you try putting some ice on your knee to help with the swelling and pain? If not maybe it will help hon.

Oh honey, I am so glad your baby is okay. I would've slapped the holy living crap out of his friend too for not keeping a better eye on her. Yes, the good Lord had hold of her today and I'm so sorry you wrecked your knee. I have slammed my knee into very hard things before with everything in me, so I know how it feels. I know it doesn't feel good at all. Hope that gets to feeling better and give that baby a big squeeze from all of us.

Oh my! I am glad to hear that your daughter is safe and sound. I know how frightened you must have been. We live on a very busy road and have a sidewalk that goes through our yard. Well my kids know they are not to go past the sidewalk. They must stay above it so they are far enough away from the road. One day I was putting stuff up in the attic which is accessed through the garage. I had the garage door opened and my kids were playing on the driveway. Well I was on my way back down from the attic and happened to look out the garage and my daughter was a foot away from the road. I think I actually jumped the rest of the way down the ladder instead of climbing down. So needless to say I know where you are coming from. I don't think she has tried that again. Her response as to why she had gone down there was to check the mail for me.

Geez how dumb was he! No wonder you slapped him - I hope it was hard! At least she's ok but I wouldn't trust him to keep an eye on her again anyway.

Oh I am so glad to hear that things went ok and that you didnt loose your kid. I am sure that the friend will think twice before ever doing something so stupid again. Some people just dont think before acting. You never ever leave a toddler out of sight.

God was watching over her and I am so happy for you. What a harrowing experience...I would be like you , unable to calm myself for hours...what an irresponsible thing for your friend to do...I'll bet he felt awful but that doesn't excuse that lapse in judgement. I am just so delighted there was a good outcome...except for your "midwestern knee"...ouch...Try to ice it as much as you can..15 min on and 15 min off...that will help..and if you can take ibuprofen that will alleviate some of the inflammation....for the bruising arnica gel is very effective and can be used several times a day rubbed over the bruised area. It will actually also help with the swelling...but those are trivial things compared to that little life....God blessed you today...and you have the knee to prove it!!!!

Thank heaven for a Mother's quick eyes (and a Father's good jump!) Forgive me if someone already said this, but get an icepack on your knee, now! An instant knot almost surely means a hematoma (bleeding under the skin, possibly into the joint), and you have to stop the bleeding or face a much longer period of pain and recovery. Remember:RICE = Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. An ACE elastic bandage will help provide support and immobilization while you heal.

that is so scarey. I'm happy to hear that she is fine and sorry you had to hurt your knee trying to get to her. Its amazing how much we will do for our young ones and yet they still have crazy parents out there that don't give a crap. I can't understand how they can be that way.
