I have a bad habit of saving things like this. I save for quite a bit of time, which I found to be a good thing recently when my grandmother died. I was able to go back through things and find the things she had given to me and now I have some great cards and things to reminisce. How about you do you save this stuff and for how long?

My mom actually is the one who started collecting cards and notes for me. My mom saved and gave me the ones that she got when I was born. I keep them in a plastic storage tote so that I can look at them every once in a while. I have continued to do the same tradition with my own children.

I collected them as a child and still have some of them here. I just forget or dont want to dump them...i dont know the exact reason. But perhaps i must do it, expecially those ones who remind me of past relations/ including the sentimental letters/. Many esoteric practics and Fen Shui advice to do so and to cleanse not my house, but also my emotions. Theese cards and letters take a place and this place need to be released for something new and may be better.

i do! i have a small box where i put my memorabilia from way way back. the oldest card that i have is a letter from my friend way back in our elementary days. this was in 1989 and until this time i still have. some of which were on the later years, like when i was in college where i receive an letter almost every week.

Yeah, I can identify with this habit too. :) I like keeping cards from close friends and family. These are usually birthday cards, Christmas cards or for some other special occasion. Whenever I would like to feel a little uplifted, I just need to take out all these cards to remind me of all the people who love me and care about me. That makes everything feel a lot more wonderful! :)

My wife and I have the habit of keeping old cards as well. Birthday cards, engagement, wedding, baby cards. They all take up a little space, but yes it is great to sit back and go through them, seeing who gave gifts, remembering people who have drifted in and out of our lives. We've got cards from when we first got together 8 yrs ago, and I don't think we're going to get rid of them anytime soon!

Yes, they do take up alot of space. But it's nice to be able to go through them just for the memories. thanks.
