Ever been in a store and the power goes out? The cashiers can't do math...

The thing that gets me is most cashiers can't even do the simple math of adding up your purchases and adding the % of tax. They panic and stop everything. What is going to happen if there is a nuclear war and we have no power. The world will stop as people can't even do basic addition any more without the aid of a calculator or cash register. It is a sad state of affairs.

i agree with you. i have seen it happen alot of times, where i live every time there is a storm the eletric goes out lol. i have been at the store and tehy just say you have to go. they cant do anything. we home school our kids now due to alot of things and one was that the teaching in school was bad. i mean in the 3rd grade they wanted us to get our kids a caculator instead of teaching them how to do it on paper they want to teach how to do it on a machine. i want my kids to be able to do both not just one. when we told the school we didnt agree they said that is how they teach math now. i just thought it was horriable. schools dont teach what needs tobe taught anymore at all. they wanted to advance my kids a grade but when we tested them to put them in home school they were a grade behind. that is when we found out that people that grad. from high school are only getting an education to about the 9th to 10th grade. the no child left behind is putting all kids behind

I've been a cashier and I will admit that I can't do math well without a calculator. I am completely right brained, I've even been tested-I amazed college professors lol. I had to be a cashier to support myself through college (art degree lol), all of the waitressing jobs were taken ;)
