I am so famous for spending more than I should! Dollar General is no exception for me! LOL! Yesterday, in fact, I went in there looking for nothing other than plastic clothes hangers. I walked out with $80 worth of stuff (mostly clothing for the kids) and NO hangers!! Oh, I should just hang my head in shame. :) I now need to make a second trip to *gulp* get those blasted hangers!!!

I love the dollar store. I do the same as you. I do think that you have to be careful because sometimes they have things there for $1 and you can get it somewhere else for less.

It is amazing what I end up with when I come out of a dollar store. Sometimes I will come home with items that I never would have even bought if I had seen them somewhere else! Usually I only buy what I need though. I was terrible at first. I think it must have been just that the novelty of being to buy so many things for only a dollar was such a shock that I had to have one of everything that caught my eye. Once I got used to the idea, and can go anytime I want to, I do not have to buy it all in one trip anymore. Now I know that I can come back and get some of it later.

I love dollar stores, too! And I'm completely the same way.. I might just run in there for a gardening tool, but then I end up walking out with 3 bags of stuff, and I'm always pretty pleased with myself and my purchases.

We dont have dollar stores in Australia, but we have cheap stores. There is a 2 dollar shop, which i would say is like yours, and then others that are a range of prices, but cheap. These shops are my downfall. I love them. I always spend too much, and come out with things that i dont really need. But i will keep going there. I also think its a good place to go if the kids have a bit of money.

I do it all the time. It's hard not too, you get carried away cause you keep thinking it's only a dollar but before you know it your at 30..lol..Everytime my daughter gets money it's the first thing she says, can we go to the dollar store?lol. She thinks the same way, everything is only a dollar so that means I can get more..lol

I love the dollar store. I went there today, and there are things that you can get there that are the exact same thing, and so much cheaper. Today I bought gum which was 2 for a buck, coffee filters, greeting cards, and some soap. Now, if I had of bought those same things at the grocery store, they would have been about 15 bucks, instead I spent 4. I do find though, sometimes I buy a bunch of stuff I don't want just because it only costs a buck.

You hit the nail on the head. For some reason it seems we feel that if something is a really good bargain we should grab it, whether or not we NEED the item! It is so easy to do. I too, have gone to the dollar store for one item (construction paper) and walked out with 25 dollars worth of things that I really didn't need at the time! Sadly, we live within a 3 blocks of a Dollar General and a Dollar Tree! Yup, gotta stay disciplined to stay out of those!

I am not a dollar store customer. I am sure that there are good deals. I however, go to places that double coupons and have rebates. I have found that with a little effort I can buy brand name items for less than I can the off brand. I went to Riteaid today and bought Advil PM for $2.99. Riteaid runs their own rebate and you can put it in online so it doesn't cost you a stamp. Riteaid gave me $2.99 rebate back. I also had a coupon for $2.00. That means that I will make a profit of $2.00 on a product that I need. Riteaid is a monthly rebate. They only send a check out once a month. So there is a cash layout up front. I do understand that some areas do not have these types of stores and I think dollar stores are the next best thing.

I love Dollat Stores!! I think they are the coolest ever!! WE don't go too often though because the one I really like isn't close to our house, and I don't like driving =) But last time I went I spent over $50...I was shocked that I spend so much!!! But it is fun!

I love shopping at the Dollar Tree and Dollar General. You can get a lot of name brand items at a low price, especially at the dollar tree. I shop at the dollar tree every weekend, they have new items every week. When I go to the dollar general, I also go their to only get like two items but come out with a basket.

The dollar stores are fun. Sometimes they lack quality. So I check every item very carfully. No, I have not bought much at a dollar store. Some lightbulbs, house decoration and a sweater and freezer bags. That did not add up to much but I really like to browse there and I always meet other people from my neighborhood. It also seems to me that there are dollarstores all over the world. In the last century there were the five and dime and Woolworth and now with inflation there are dollar stores. ;-)
