Be a part of this eternal debate between science and religion. To be much more specific, let me ask this question - "Which is more closer to the truth - Science or Religion?" Also give your reasons why you think what you think!

There should really be no debate between science and religion. Think in terms of the God of the gaps. Science explains what it can and what can't be explained by science creates the gaps that are filed by religion.

Science can only fill the gaps when science has good, solid answers to fill them.

and then, what about the gaps left by religion? especially the ones which contradict logic, common sense and facts as we know them? do they then get filled up by science?

This should not be posed as such a dichotomy! It is not like one has a better grasp on truth compared to the other. The are fundamentally asking different questions: Science looks at the "how" of things whereas religion looks at the "why" of things. I have degrees in physics and astronomy and have also been working on a masters of Christian studies and have never felt I have to choose one or the other. It is silly to pit these two against each other. I have written about this in more depth if anyone would care to read up: http://url.mattjonesblog.com/science-religion/ http://url.mattjonesblog.com/creation-science/ http://url.mattjonesblog.com/god-bible-science/

thanks for the reply. great that you are into both science and religion. however, i dont really think that science looks at just "how" of things and religion at the "why" of things, both of them do not really ask different questions, fundamentally they are still the same - a quest for the truth.

Yes, but are looking for Truth, but in different ways. If God is Truth then science would not go against God and also be Truth.

t's all about being in charge. The white man showed us that it's foolish to have a rain God. We see the rain and figure it must come from somewhere, but we let the white man tell us we are foolish. Believe in an invisible God they tell us. We look at the sun and thank it for it's warmth and for letting out crops grow, but the white man says we are wrong again. Lift up your eyes to the heavens and pray to their imaginary God, and once again we discard our beliefs and pray to this invisible God. Every God we prayed to was systematically put down by the white man. And we accepted it. Finally he told us that we should have only one God. I guess that made for less paperwork, since keeping track of all these Gods was too time consuming. Finally we have disowned our Gods who were there in plain site and accepted this invisible Being as the sole God of the universe.

agreed! the early man was a nature worshipper, but with evolution, the concept of god evolved too!

Science is based on proven facts, religion is based on the known understanding of a true god.If the god of a religion is true and have basis, then science and religion will work hand in hand, meaning they will coincide with each other. If you will believe that God created all things, then you will realize that he is a great scientist.Imagine the universe in it's vastness,if God is a weak scientist,he will have err and the planets and the stars will collide. The law of nature is discovered by scientist, but God applied that law,in the universe, our nature, and our self.Remember that scientist are only discovering new things that are known to God,he{God} just let the scientist do his job for his own good,or do his job for his own destruction, like the atom bomb.

I don't know about other religions but i believe that my religion is close to truth, i think it is not important to compare religion and science, In science subject like evolution start with hypothesis and end with hypothesis, and people listening to it get nothing but confusions on there face.

You have a small problem with tour definition. The process of evolution is based on the "THEORY of Natural Selection", not a hypothesis. This will give you a better understanding of what a scientific theory is; http://tinyurl.com/232dj5
