Have you ever missed the school bus?

We live about 8 miles from our school, so we rely on the school bus pickup. Missing the bus would be a real hassel for us, so we usually get there really early to ensure that we don't miss the bus. Have you ever missed the school bus?

I did miss it once - I made it to the bus stop (about 1/2 mile from home) just in time to see it 20 yds down the road.... I always had so much stuff with me...books, purse, violin... I was kind of happy about it, now I could go home and spend the whole day at my leisure since mom and dad were both gone for the day already. (it would have been a major hassle for them to get me to school too, we lived 20 miles from school). Ah, bummer, the driver must have looked in his rear view and saw me, because he stopped the bus and waited for me to get there. Everyone laughing and clapping as I clumsied down the street...I really wish he would have either kept going or backed up to me instead.

You poor girl! I can just imagine trying to run with your arms full of all that stuff. It's never fun, is it? That's probably why you were never late again. LOL!!

Well I cant remember about me, but just this morning my kids almost missed it. They were out at 9:02 and the bus usually comes between 9:06-9:12am but if for some reason he's early he honks and waits for us. Anyways I guess it was a sub, because she stopped way far away from the bus stop, so my kids run for the bus and she starts to pull away! I was so irritated! But then she saw them and stopped and they got on. It's close to the school, but to load up all four and haul them all in is tough, so we try reaally hard not to miss the bus! Hopefully she realizes where the bus stop is soon before they actually miss it for real!

I don't recall ever missing the bus myself, but I have a humerous story about my son and his first ride on the bus. It was his first day of kindergarten, I had taken him TO school in the morning, but he was to ride home on the bus after. My girls and I walked up to the busstop to greet him, and he wasn't there! PANIC! WHERE IS MY SON???!!! I called the school, and they notified the bus driver, he was still on the bus!!! Being that he was SUPPOSED to be the third stop on the route, the driver let him ride the whole route, and he ended up being the last. Turns out, he forgot where he was, and since the driver didn't see where he got on in the morning, she didn't know where he was to get off in the afternoon. That didn't happen again, and we still have a chuckle about it once in a while. Moral of the story... Carry a cell phone with the number to the school on it, so you don't have to run home to call the school. Shorty could have gotten off the bus before it ever left the neighborhood! LOL!!!

My children use to miss the bus often because they didn't like to ride the bus. Every morning they would have to get picked up around seven thirty when they didn't need to be there till eight thirty. They thought it was such a waste of their time. Luckily now we don't have to deal with them having to ride the bus anymore. We moved to a smaller town where they are able to walk to and from school.
