Does the star rating helps in anyway?

I have read so many discussions here in mylot regarding star rating. Some confused, some dissapointed and some delighted. But what I often read is star rating up and down. What actually does a star means in mylot? I can see that most mylotian who got star rating of 10 usually gets most responses, even though their discussion is moderate and sometimes of a general issues. Does it means with a star rating of 10, your discussions or responses get more exposer? Or with a star rating of 10, your earning is more than the rest?

i think your star rating is important but i dont think it makes much difference to your earnings. I feel it gives a good indication of how likely you are to get a good response to your discussions the higher your star rating
