How do you choose the best response to your discussions? I find it really hard, cause i get so many good answers from people. It is hard to pick a best response. I have noticed a lot of people dont worry about picking a best response. I make sure i give possitive ratings to all that reply, so is that enough? Just wondering what others thoughts are on it.

I sometimes find it very difficult as well. I end up reading contending responses through several times before I finally decide. I have one guy who always gives me amazing responses but I feel I cannot give him the final decision every time... others deserve a chance, especially if their response is informative and constructive. I normally come down to one in the end, and give the others a positive rating, but I have to admit, it's very difficult. I think you just have to use your own judgement and do your own thing. Brightest Blessings... have a great day!

Thank you, Kay. It's Bank Holiday weekend here, so a long weekend. :-) As for best response, I was wondering whether it might be a good idea to give us 3 pencil icons, one gold, for best, 1 silver for 2nd best and 1 red or something for 3rd best. I think that might help when we have a number of good responses and we're torn as to whom we should award "best". The weekend is here... you see, it wasn't too long, was it? Enjoy your time together. Brightest Blessings, my friend. :-)

Usually it`s difficult for me.All replies are sincere and good. I rate all of them, but i cant tell what of them is superior and what are the criterias. It`s enough to rate all of them.

I give best response to the one which mostly suits me and I find it best. So you see I have no special mechanism. Just following the basic meaning of "best response" ;) Sometimes I'm forced to give BR to ones which are the only responces in my discussion. Not much fun *thinking*

I don't think there are any well defined rules for choosing the best response. It all depends on one's personal thinking and liking.Different persons may choose diffrent best response from same responses. You should go through all the responses. Then we should see that the reply should be as per the discussion and how well the responder has given his/her opinion. Though sometimes it is difficult to judge the best response as many responses are good to be judged as the best response , in this case choose any one of them.

Oh i thought it is the easiest thing to do.All you have to do is,read the replies. You would surely know which reply has given you the best information for the question you asked. For ex:If your question is why am i an addict to mylot? Many answers will come. The one which gives you the correct reason(s) is the best response. There might be two or three persons giving. In that case select the one which came first. Its as easy as it sounds.Good Luck.

couldnot agree more with you, its indeed difficult to mark only one as the best. after much experimentation, now i mark BR on first come first serve basis. the instant bomber, the instant appeal makes me mark him/ her the best no matter what. the next appealing response would get a positive rating and would get responses (2 or more discussions he/she has started) from me instantly. i try to rate all who respond with a + positive rating, unless it is too inane. thanx

I don't wait all the time... it always seem as though if I see a best response, I'll know it, although there has been a couple of discussions that I wished I gave the best response to other people instead.

Its hard to choose sometimes, I usually wait a couple of weeks before deciding. Then I have trouble picking which one to do because most of them are good responses. I know exactly what your talking about.

Hi Kayrod2! It's really a very positive approach to decide about the best response on merit and the merit makes it difficult sometimes to choose a response because otherwise some people just choose their friend or they choose in haste. I always not only choose best response to my discussions but also reply to every comment made on my post as well as rate them. This practice just makes friends who are more important than money. I use elimination method when it is difficult to choose; I'll explain. I first eliminate those responses which are not on the topic or which are irrelevant. Then I see that, which are most thought out and well informed answers among the rest, so further eliminating a bundle of responses. The difference between "to the point" or "relevant" response and "most thought out" is that later tries to handle the underlying cause or principle also besides the topic at it's face value. Then i go about seeing which responses among the rest few are well versed and easy to understand for others to takle guidance from. It makes the competing responses to just very few and then it's easy for me to decide. Hope it will help you, Best of luck:-)

Since my topics aren't too much successfull, I wait til it gets at least 5 responses, but I usually wait until ten or so. Then I get to select the ones who did want to write a good answer and rate as plus. After that I choose the one who made the bigger contribution in quality and quantity. Cheers ^^

i haven't chose a best response in each of my discussions but i think your idea of rating each responses positively is good. i'd try that while waiting for responses to fill up my discussions...

For me, it takes time because sometimes the best one's comes in the later part. But there are times that their response really struck my feelings, then i give it automatically as the best one. It is really hard, especially here in mylot, many have thought about how they can be of help with your problem or with your discussion and everything seem to be the best.

the best response has to answer the things I asked in my discussion, if there are more than one then I give it either to the first person who answered everything, or the person that is new to encourage him or her.

I'm way behind in best responses because I don't believe in giving them too early. Some give them after a day or less...! I give B/R to the person who se answer moves me the most or the one who seems most in tune with my feelings on the discussion. If it's a toss up between friends of mine I flip a coin or try to share it them around equally. It can be a hard call sometimes.

I like to wait until I have several to choose from, and until the responses die down. Sometimes one response will stand out as being the best response, being a great, well though out answer that really sets itself apart from all of the others. Sometimes it is more difficult to choose. Usually, there are no more than two or three that I have a hard time choosing between because any one word answers or responses that are obviously just given with no thought are automatically out of the running. Sometimes it is hard when two or three are equally good. I usually debate back and forth on those for a few days before making my final decision.

When I choose for a best response among good responses, I usually choose the one that's different or outstanding among the rest. But I do rate all who respond to my discussions with a positive rating. It really depends, some chooses a best response if it answers all their questions, some chooses their good friends' answers, and some chooses the most helpful one. To each his own, I guess. What can be best for me might not be that good to you, so just choose the one that you like that fits your standards.

I give a positive rating for all response too, like a gift to them because they give me a response. Thank you and God bless you

Just a suggestion, but if you find them all to be pretty good, just go enie meanie minie moe. LOL, that way they all have a fair chance. I'm not saying to do that all the time, just when you can't decide.
