Syndicate a blog?
4 May 07
Syndication is built in to most blogging software. It allows someone to publish a summery of the content or your full blog content on their blog or read it in a newsreader program. By subscribing to multiple blog feeds you could read the content of several blogs without browsing to those blogs.

Syndication or really simple syndication [RSS] is a new, easy, low cost method for distributing content on the web. A blog can be read with a standard browser, or alternatively, can be read by an RSS reader (or 'aggregator'). Blogs and even web pages can be syndicated to form an RSS feed. This RSS feed then can be made available unfiltered to a client's desktop via a well known URL. Subscription by RSS as you saw "Syndicate the blog" makes the content come to the user rather than the user having to go to different web logs to fetch it. Hence, RSS utilizes 'pull' technology which means users ask for content, unlike e-mail marketing, which relis on 'push' technology to push content unasked for. Major benefits of using RSS for blogging is higher search engine visibility. For instance, Yahoo! will spider your RSS feed and blog if a visitor to your blog includes your feed in his/her MY YAHOO! account. Yahoo! is doing these within forty eight hours of such an occurance - a remarkably fast indexing time for Yahoo! To top it all, this happens without costing you a penny! You can further speed up the process by subscribing to your RSS feed in your MY YAHOO! account. Happy blogging! Votreamie.

The majority of blog platforms come with the technology of RSS. RSS allows you and visitors to your site the option of subscribing to your blog through a feed reader or even placing your blog feed on other websites or blogs. In MyYahoo you are allowed to add syndicated content, meaning the RSS feeds of as many blogs or forums as you would like to. I think this does help with SEO or Search Engine Optimization. Use of the RSS feeds is what is meant by syndication. If there is another meaning to it when it comes to blogs I would appreciate knowing the definition.
