I read it in an article and saw a TV show about it and I was shocked by how many people this affects. Any way this can be fixed? American is suppose to be the land of opportunity, what has happened to the United States?

I'm a good conservative Republican and all, except when it comes to the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. The rich, the big companies, etc should be paying larger amounts of taxes to help those who are struggling. The public is the reason these people have so much money anyway, so pay it back! And control interest rates so people aren't paying more in interest than for things they need!

it' nice in theory, but the top 1% already pay the most taxes. besides if you can't budget on a small paycheck you aren't gonna do it on a larger one. Most people the more they make the more they spend they don't save and not saving is what get's people into trouble.

Most people here live paycheck to paycheck, so at any given time they are 2 weeks away from losing everything. Its really sad. My husband and I just finally got away from that, Praise God, but it was hard work! Once you get into that habit its so hard to get caught up enough to be able to some money in the bank.

Most of them are living one check away from homelessness because they are living beyond their means. They are in debt up to their eyeballs and just keeping their heads above water. Sometimes you can't drive a new car or eat at the best restaurants or wear the name brand clothes.... some people need to realize that there are more important things in life than that.

That's true....keeping up with the Jones' does come with a price. I'm amazed at how some peoples priorities are so skewed. My hubby and I live on 1 paycheck and it's just a matter of setting the budget and our priorities, ya know? Thanks for your response.

it's because people choose to live beyond their means. Gotta have the cell phones, the nice cars, the junk food, name brand clothing, etc... If people chose to budget then it wouldn't be like this for alot of people (not all but alot). I also believe that the welfare state has contributed to it as well.

Yes it's true. I know that I have learned from a few things and someday that won't be the case for us. I think if people lived within their means then this wouldn't be such a big problem. People need to learn that it's ok it they don't go here or there, or have this or that.

Yes it is true that some of us are living from one paycheck to another. I think alot of people sometimes forget what is is like, to not have the extras that they take for granted every day. It is a worry not to know all the time were your next dime is coming from.
