Antivirus + antispyware

The sites we surf are swarming with malware trying to infect and take over our PCs. If you haven't discovered that it's either because your PC is exceptionally well protected or because it's not protected at all. How to protect the PC? Are there free programs? These are the programs I currently use. They are all free and you can download them right now. Just google their names. Antivirus: AVG Free. TrendMicro Pccillin Housecall. An online scanner wich is very efficient. I use it once a week. Antispyware: 1) Spybot. You can set it to run automatically at bootup plus it has a tea-timer wich keeps your PC protected even when Spybot isn't running. 2) Comodo BOclean. Monitors system continuously. 3) Emptemp. Empties you temp-folders automatically, ie. every 15 minutes. 4) Spywareblaster. The free version will not autoupdate but if you create an extra shortcut to the program and place this shortcut in the start folder it will automatically run at bootup and you just have to click update. 5) Superantispyware. A really powerful malware remover. It's much better than Spybot and Ad-Aware but the free version only offers manual search and remove. I use it if Spybot has detected something but can't remove it. I hope you can use some of these programs. If you know better programs or have other comments please post.

Thanx for sharing this useful info. I would like to add some more to your list of utilities to protect your pc. You could also use ccleaner a free utility to clean up your pc from unwanted and useless files and keep your PC clean every time you use it. You can also use mcafee stinger utility which is a small but powerful free utility to detect some malwares and viruses on the net. They you could also install mcafee siteadvisor utility on your browser either internet explorer or mozilla firefox, this utility will prevent users to visit sites which has virus, malwares, scams, popups, unwanted downloads, spams and it will warn you if you visit such sites.

Sounds good, I'll test all of them. Thanks. Right now I'm actually testing Norton antivirus as AVG sometimes slows the computer horribly. Unfortunately norton seems to do the same. Might try Avast next.

I'm not really sure about ccleaner. It's a cool program but I don't think deleting all cookies is a smart move. After all most cookies are helpful when you are surfing and using your regular internet services.

Thank you for this information pointyblue. Myelf I use Avast for an anti-virus. It's also free. For spyware I use A-ware and spybot. I also use Windows Defender but I don't feel that it is as powerful as Adware and Spybot because it never finds anything wrong with my computer while the two other software find malwares everyday when I run them.
