Menstruation of girl

During the first three days of menstruation in my community the girls/owmen are forbidden from cooking , touching clothes , sleeping with their husbands etc . However , now-a-days this prohibitions are liberalised to some extent . What about your community.

I am from India. But I don't claim that the restriction ( seclusion ) that I discussed is prevalent all over India . But I know that it is practices in my state .

I live in the U.S. We've never had such restrictions. As a female, I would feel very insulted to have to live under such conditions. To be treated an an "unclean thing" when I bathe every day would be stupid.
