Why young people don’t like fruits?

My son is 28s and is working in out station about 2 hours ride. I usually visit him once or twice monthly. Every time when I tidy the frig I found that all the fruits I bought for him still remain there. I ask him why? He just grins at me and carry on busy with his computer again. But he will finish all the slices of fruits that I serve him every time. I did ask some young friends and colleagues (gals/guys) the same question, “why don’t you like fruits?” and most of the answers are the same “lazy to peel the fruits”. Is it true that all youngsters don't like fruits?

Hi dian, quite similar to the case of your brother, my son and all my nieces and nephews actually like eating fruits, the fact is they don't want to take the trouble to peel the skin of the fruits. Sometimes, even the fruits are ready to be served, but they are too indulgent in playing games, or texting or chatting on phones and etc. They seem like don't have extra time to take the fruits. posting and take care.

For the sake of health I prefer to take the trouble to prepare fruits for my kid. Anyway to peel fruits is always easier than to take care of a sick person, right? I do like playing simply computer games. I play almost daily before going to bed. I’m quite indulgent in Dynomite and Bejeweled 2 Deluxe earlier. Nowadays I have shifted to Zuma Deluxe. It's really challenging and fun and I could hardly stop from playing it until my hubby pester me. Happy posting

Hi lkbooi.I very like to eat fruits especially banana. The banana was not peel husk,it's very convenience. But like the apple or pear i don't peel husk,i was lazy to peel it. I think in this society, the teenage youth are become very lazy now. They don't like to do some boiling water. As i was all so lazy, sometimes don't like to do something by myself.I think the younger person will get a good education.what do you think of?

Hi fengbo, nice to see you here! I know you like to eat banana because you are lazy to peel the skins of other fruits. Many young guys including my son are fond of taking bananas as they are quite convenient to be peeled. Not only young people I’m also lazy to boil water too as boiling water is quite time consuming so I prefer to take filtered water. I believe it doesn’t mean that young people are lazy to do daily chores but they prefer to spend the time for other things which they are interested. Do you agree? Happy postings!

Hi fengbo, Your story really shows what I had said before was true. Yeah, many young guys like you (won’t mind I said so?) are willing to spend lots of time in whatever things they are interested and yet reluctant to spare a few minutes for skinning fruits. My son managed to solve this problem by getting peeled fruits from the canteen in his working place. How about the canteen in your campus? What are the peeled fruits available there? Happy postings!

It not that they dont like, they always forget and they dont have time for fruits, mostly those barchelors who live alone. Even food they eat because they felt hungry. Peeling fruits takes their precious time they could have used on the computer or somewhere. I dont blame them coz I have been there and sometimes I do that with hubby. I have oranges in the fridge that have been there for more than two weeks but bcoz bananas are easy to peel and eat we eat bananas more.

You are right kwenge, actually they love fruits but they prefer to spend their precious time for surfing net, playing games or other things which are far more interesting than peeling fruits. Yeah, as a caring wife and mother we don’t borther to take the trouble to peel fruits for our loved ones. Besides the banana you have mentioned, here we still have a few local tropical fruits, like rambutan, mangosteen, langsat which are delicious, and convenient to eat them as easy as peeling banana. Nowadays I don’t buy any fruits and keep them in the fridge for my son who works in outstation anymore. You know how lazy he is? I found the fruits he brought back from our hometown a month back still sitting in the fridge when we visited him. posting and take care.

Yes, mothers and wives are obliged to prepare for the busy boys some fruits and salad, put them next to the computer or play station with a folk, forget about servietts or towels coz they bother them. Thats what I do for my husband if i want to empty fruits from the fridge.

Smart enough my dear! This is the best way to clear out all the fruits in the fridge. I believe all the boys are too indulgent in what they are doing and could hardly find out if there is any foreign object in the plate of fruits I suppose lol. .. I’m doing the same thing when serving the fruits or other food, a fork as well as a wet towel for wiping and no matter they like or dislike.

Not all of the youngsters don't like fruits. Some of my young colleagues in the office next to mine love to have fruits of different kind as part of their breakfast. I agree that it is troublesome for some youngsters to peel the fruits. I think your son will eat more fruits if you let him know how good it is to have fruits. Just try.

Yes, I agree that not all of the youngsters repel fruits. It’s just because they feel reluctant for peeling them. I’ll try to let him know the benefits of taking fruits and hope that he would accept it when he realize the importance of vitamin c for healthy growth. Happy postings.

i don't know if it is true, but i do not like fruits myself.my mother bought me a box of apples, and i can touch none of them in one month and finally forgot to eat.for me it is too complicated to wash the apple and peel it,just like you said,i am too lazy,i'd rather like open the bottle and drink it right away.so my favorite fruit is banana,it's easy to eat,and i dont need to wash my hands before and after i eat them.

You are right, it’s one of the best way to eat fruits with spoon. I do taking fruits like melon, papaya, apple, mangosteen and a lot more by using a spoon. In this way we can keep our fingers and mouth clean lol.

I can understand your son because I am the same lazybone:) If you buy him bananas, perhaps this situation will be better. I like fruits but I also feel it's so troublesome to peel them. And men may be lazier than women. If one day your son has a child, perhaps it will change. At least he has to make a good example to his children that eating fruits is healthy:) I love China

Yeah, I’m sure he won’t be lazy anymore if he becomes a caring father later on. Lol ... I love kid very much, I hope I would be a grandma very soon. posting and take care.

Hi Ikbooi, I am a young one.I like fruits.I eat most of the type of fruits like apple, mango, orange, banana, pineapple, strawberry, grape, butter fruit... But if there mango juice and mango then i will select the juice!! Why i like juice is because it will be more sweet one. Thanks for staring this discussion and have a nice day.

Yeah naseefu, you are very young, even younger than my son. My kid does love fruits of all kind very much except grapefruit. He seems reluctant to take it though I have peeled for him. Is there anyone to serve you with peeled fruit or you prepare it yourself? Hehe ... the juice of mango tasted sweeter, may be a little bit of sugar is added to it. I like mango too for its unique fragrance and the nice texture of its delicious flesh which always gives a wonderful mouth-feeling. posting and have a great day.

I am afraid to hear that. My son is 3 years old and he also doesn't like eating fruits. I can't figure out why. Perhaps boys don't like fruits. Whereas I can't see girls are the same.

Generally I believe that children do like fruits as they are mostly sweet and juicy. Your kid doesn’t like to take fruits, could be most probably due to the fact that he hasn’t come across his most favorite fruit. So you can try them out until you get the one for him. Or you could mix certain cut fruits with tasty ingredients like ice cream or chocolate which could make the fruits more palatable and attractive for your son.

Hi darkaeon, I am afraid that my discussion didn’t convey my idea clearly earlier. What I was trying to say in my discussion was that, young people liked to eat fruits, but they wouldn’t like to take the trouble to peel even the fruits they favorite. Both my husband and I love fruits very much ever since from childhood. I believe fruits are the main sources of natural vitamin C which is essential for health.

Hi hillock, many young guys are just the same as my son, love to eat fruits but lazy to peel the skin. Yeah, I am sorry that you couldn’t take fruits easily especially banana, as you got amoebiasis. I think it might be a type of gastroenteritis that causes by diarrhea. So taking banana might make your stomach worse still. Take good care, my dear friend.

"lazy to peel" although is one of the reason, my opinion is that:They still have the strong and healthy body even though they don't have fruits to give them the nuitrient.Another reason is because their loved mum or dad always serve them so.....:)They are waiting their parents to give them more warmhearted, loving acts!

I think the younger generations are becoming more lazy and pursuing of luxirous lifestyle. I am lazy to peel the fruits too and would rather drink fruit juice or peeled and sliced fruits. I am lucky to have a mother who prepare the fruits for me when she visit me :) I usually drink blended fruit juice in my company cafeteria duing lunch hour, that's more costly but more efficient (without the need to buy and prepare the fruit). It's really time consuming to visit the local store to buy the fruits because of the traffic.

No, it isn't true that all don't. My children love fruits, especially grapes, strawberries, apples, oranges, clemetines, banananas and kiwis. I bought them a watermelon today as a special treat. I know some picky eaters that don't like much but they do like fruit. I also know some picky eaters that won't even eat strawberries! HOw could you not like a strawberry?

I think children loves fruit, they just want them ready to eat. lol... what is happening to the world. That is why food supplements are there for instant intake... have we as parents failed in teaching our children to be at least responsible enough to prepare their own food and take them in their natural forms as possible?

I prefer to give children natural fruits rather than vitamin c supplements which are not as good as the natural one. Of course the best way is to train our children to be industrious and not to be lazy to prepare their own foods.
