Do you prefer to watch TV shows when they're or record them for later?

There are a few shows I enjoy watching regularly that no one else at my house cares to watch, so I record them to watch later. Sometimes I just record shows, to watch later, so I can fast forward through commercials. Also, I love to go back, if I missed something that happened, and watch it over again. Another reason I like to record some shows, is that if I know it's going to be a sad episode, I like to watch it alone. I'd rather cry about shows when no one is around, sometimes it seems silly to some people to cry over TV shows. We've only had our DVR a several months, and I don't know what we did before we got it. Do you prefer to watch TV shows when they are scheduled to be on, or do you record them to watch later? What are reasons for recording them for later, if you do...?

I do not watch anything real time. Everything is recorded by the Tivo and I watch it at least 15 minutes after it starts, if not days later. I haven't seen a commercial in like two years. Yay Tivo!!!

Seeing as I have sattelite TV they run the same show at various times throughout the day/evening so everyone has a chance to se it. I haven't recorded a show in about 5 years or so. Don't have a need to anymore. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

At different times in my life depending on my work schedual I have taped tv shows to watch later - mainly because they were favorites at the time and because of work I wouldn't get to watch them or would miss half the show. Now I'm working from home I don't tape them - just watch when they're on but am not really into any particular shows now either.

I would prefer to watch TV shows when they are on unless I am not available at that time. I would record it hoping to watch it when I am free. However, watching a recorded show will mean I need to sacrifice extra time outside the normal TV slots. Otherwise, I will end up not watching the record.

Much as I want to watch my favorite shows on their TV time, I'm not always home during "primetime" and I have never figured out how to record shows so that's out of the question too. That's why I'm thankful that full episodes are now available on TV station websites. Not all of the shows have full episode like Gilmore Girls and Amazing Race but there's still a lot that I am able to watch like Lost and Grey's Anatomy. Good thing too because Ugly Betty and Survivor are on the same time slot and I hate flipping channels. The full episodes assures me I can still watch the other show and don't have to flip during the entire 1 hour. And I can watch them over and over too.

I do sometimes DVR shows but it seems like I never watch them if I do, so I try to watch shows when they are on.

I prefer to watch them when they are on. I've recorded them to watch later and half the time I never get to watch them. Just something else comes up or there is something else on I want to watch. I finally gave up with that. I only do it on very rare occassions, like two season finales on at the same time or I have to go out of town and the second half of a show is on.

Now that I'm retired I usually can watch them when they are on but when I was still working I had my VCR set to tape at the same time each day Mon thru Fri for my soap (Young & the Restless) then as I had to be up each morning very early or was travelling anything that came on late at night I would tape that and watch it on the week end.

Well if they are on and I am up I dont record them. But I do watch Supernatural and not even my sister likes that one! *L* she has to cover her eyes if I am watching it. I'd say record it but when would I watch it? I just keep my schedule open and rarely do anything but watch them when they are on. Sometimes its better recorded though, less commercials. Although watching it with those its good for getting up to do stuff.
