The town we lived in (just moved out of a month ago)was blown away last night by a tornado . The town was a 90% loss, alot of my family are now homeless. Cousins and an elderly aunt.I thank my lucky stars that my mom, husband and kids were all away from there, even tho the house we moved out of is one of the few that is still standing,so is my mothers house there . The garage is gone and a few shingles missing and thats it. The tornado was so devistating that Greensburg made the yahoo front page today. We spent most of last night looking for family. You can find videos of the distruction on kwch.com.

Oh Gabs I hope you never have to experiance anything like what happened in Greensburg. The town looked like a bomb went off and stripped all the trees and made the houses look like matchsticks. We are all okay , but our family members that was in town when it hit are still having trouble with the sounds of a train going by. High winds really messes with my moms brother now,the man who was never afraid of anything.

We often take for granted that we have a home over our heads. We forget that it can all be gone in a flash. Hopefully the homeless will once again gain shelter and get their lives back to order. My best wishes go out to your family and those who have suffered loss.

Fema ,the Red Cross, and the united way has done a wonderful job on making sure everyone has had their needs met. The scarey thing about this tornado was even in basements people were sucked out. Or everything dropped into the basements and buried them.Memories gone so quickly. My uncle and aunts house was completely gone not even and rubble left on the spot.

Fortunately we live in an area that doesn't see too many tornadoes, but we have had a few. The destruction was not as severe as where you live.

When we were allowed into Greensburg yesterday I broke down at all the distrution around me. The pictures in no way prepared me for the devastation. Trying to figure out whose house I was looking at.

The main thing is that we are all okay and all together .You are so right mother nature likes to show who is boss from time to time.I think we will be seeing more of her attitude in times to come,I think she wants to show us that she cant be contained or stopped.

I am so sorry to hear this. I read about the tornadoes today and it is tragic. I pray that your cousins and aunt will find a new place to live and be able to cope with this disaster. The weather has been awful lately and I believe it will just be getting worse. I think that global warming has a lot to do with these strange weather patterns. I live in Florida. We're already hearing about how bad this hurricane season will be. Where are you living now?

I live in a town 26 miles from Greensburg.A tiny little place called belvidere there are 4 other people that lives here besides my family. There have been so many more tornados this afternoon and evening it is horrible. Another one just barely missed the one of the towns where the shelters are.
