How would you classify a luxury?

Lots of people nowadays would say, cellphones, make-up kit,Cars, good dresses, beautiful house etc...is a luxury, but the person concern who has everything would say oh its not.... its a basic needs. Now, I may ask you what is your opinion to this matter, is it a luxury or a basic needs? Pls help me out with this for I dont know what to answer to people who argue bout this topic.

Well, luxury for me is things that has economic value more than the thing worth, while the function is the same and replaceable with lower economic value things.
Like cars for example. Ferrari and VW Beetle are cars, they help us transport from one place to another, but the economic value are different. Ferrari is luxury, VW Beetle is not. But for some people have impression that VW is a luxury car too, because they compare with Ford, for example.
To argue about luxury or not, you can ask back to the person, if he/she afford to buy lower price things why she would spend more money for "luxury" things.

i'd like to say what you list above is the basic needs now-a-days. What is luxury? One watch is need, five watches are luxury, one car is need, 3 cars are luxury, one house is need, three will be luxury. One lover is need, two or more lovers will be luxury. :)
