to be a good parent for your kids now? It could be a transfer or might be a conversion of values we've got from them to apply to our children. God bless you all, mothers and fathers!

I learned from example. Its a monkey see monkey do kind of lesson. A child emmulates what they see their parents do. Often as adults we try to think back to how our parents would have handle the situation. You can learn from someone elses mistakes if you just take the time to watch and listen.

Absolutely right, Castleghost. Examples would be more powerful than just words. Thank you Castleghost.

once I got married an started thinking about a family, everything my mother did started to make sense. We never really talked about how to do this or that , but I took what she taught me from things she did for us as kids.

Thank you MrsWickham1... it seems that we should discover an unvaluable old treasure from them given to us before our eyes. May God open our eyes clearly.

Hi there! I have acquired some of my parents' good traits where raising a child is involved. From my father, I learned that it doesn't have to be restricted to a parent-child relationship. A parent or noth parents can also be their child's friend. It would be really nice when your child is comfortable enough to open-up to you with his or her problems. It takes a lot of practice but I hope that I'll be able to perfect it someday. From my mother, I learned to be really forgiving and patient.
