How do you keep away negative thoughts?

Do you repel them consciously with a mantra? Do you substitute bad thoughts with a positive one? Do you let the crappy thought fester and control your whole day? Do you engage in something to keep you mega busy to shift the negative thought? Or do you really wallow in it and relish and cherish the bad thought until it becomes one with you? Please tell me how do you cope?

Why do you want to keep them away? Moping is so nice. I hoard them so that I can savor them one by one.

How do I cope with negative thoughts my friend? Well to be honest, not very well, in fact I find it very hard to get rid of the bu**ers they are like little bugs that infect me and munch on all the positive ones. Remember Pac Man? Well all those little dots are positive ones which Pac Man is munching on aaaaaahhhhh! That's why I get black periods in my life because I can't deal with the negatives. For example when people tell you you're ugly for most of your life, you believe it right, it's all about programming, I have to get rid of this negative vcr in my head and replace it with a positive one, but easier said than done eh! Be interested to see how others deal with the same problem, oh boy!

I am not good at handling negative thoughts. Most of the time they win and I get depressed. Actually I take things little seriously and think a lot. As also I am emotional it is hard for me to get control over them:(.

I just try to busy myself with something else. I mean, I try to tell myself not to worry about it, but it always manages to creep back into my thoughts regardless of how much I tell myself not to worry about it, it's always there. So, I just busy myself doing something that will ensure I won't think about it. Read, listen to music, watch tv, or clean.

People told me that to take away the bad thoughts one must think of the good things. The good things in life, the good things at work, the good things at home, the good things about your partner and many more good things. Have you tried that?

A lot of prayer, and I also call and talk to my grandparents, and my friends. Sometimes I will just sit there and tell myself all the good things that are going on in my life and usually that will help.

Have you ever learned about exercising the mind to repel the negative thoughts. I'm not talking about yoga or meditation. Its my way of pushing everything back in my subconscious mind. Then I will work myself until my mind is too exhausted before hitting the bed. This way, my mind is completely shut down and any negative thoughts will not resurface in my dreamless sleep.

I usually try to busy myself with work at home,cleaning,re-organizing,etc whenever I get negative thoughts. But it is not always so easy to keep them off. There are things I cannot forget,no matter how much I try.So when those thoughts take over,I just allow them to take over.I am grumpy, and ready to cry at any moment, all day when this happens. But I have fought with myself a lot over the years to keep away negative thoughts,so I just feel tired fighting all the time.I guess it has to be in one's nature to be positive and cheerful all day despite troubles..alas,I am not one of those. But I think sometimes letting them out like writing troubles on a paper(one of my fav tricks) and then tearing it off ,helps.I feel that I understand why I feel crappy and forlorn and that makes me think of the positive things I have. But I tell you, this trick does not work every time. There are times when I have cried many many times over one single incident.these days I just stop the urge to override the negative thoughts with the positive one because I feel that I am only relegating them to the background, and not eliminating them completely.I would much rather brood over it than pretend to be happy.

If it is only a negative feeling, but not a really bad thing happening, I would like to do something of my interest or keep myself busy with my work, trying to stop myself from thinking any more about it. If this fails, I would leave all things behind and go out shopping. By walking among the passegers on the street or looking over goods in the stores, I would gradually forget about the unpleasant thoughts.

When negative thoughts attack my mind, I can't get rid of it. It affects my mood and makes me quite upset the whole day. I can't even sleep. And everytime that happens, I just let go of it. It would soon pass anyway.

For me, i don't really notice how i am coping with them. At times i just notice that, oh i am thinking a negative thought again especially when i am alone then all i do is to divert my thinkings into something good. Try not to think that one again, but honestly it is hard to do once it get into your mind already.

Negative thoughts, negative thoughts. What to do with negative thoughts. It depends on a lot of things. Some I keep to bring out when I feel like I want to have a pity party with my self. It takes me a while to get those negative thoughts so I want to horde them. They hang around like a Nat that you just can’t brush away. Pretty soon I just get tired of them and just send them away and think good thoughts until the thing that gives me those negative thoughts does something else to bring them all back again.

Im more of the get busy and forget about problems person.:) When i just sit around, it gives me time to think about my so called problems which then leads me to get depressed because why so many problems. I feel the need to do stuff, if not i will truly be focusing on these bad vibes.

negative thoughts? sometimes i do have, then i would be in depression if i didn't deal with it quickly.most time, when i think about the future,it seems not so promising, but that is also my motive, when i thought about that,i felt that i should work harder, and not waste any time,so the result is i will get up early next morning and do more things than usual.but during other time,i felt lazy, don't want to struggle for life.

Most times I find a quiet spot and go over all the good things in my life. Other days I wallow in it. Some days it is just better to stay in bed with your head under the covers. Combine all the negative things and get over them all at once.
