WHen I was younger I used to get shy when receiving a compliment. I wasn't sure of what to say. Someone would tell me " good job!" and I will try to minimize it " oh, it's nothing." " everyone could have done it" . I"m glad I've grown:) I can take a compliment much more gracefully right now. ANd sometimes a simple " thank you " is enough. How do you react to compliments?

Just be gracious about it and accept the compliment. Smile and say thank you. You may also try to say something nice in return.

I thank the person for the compliment. If its a clothing item, then I'll tell my friend where I purchased the item. Its always nice to hear something good about myself and many times people are so busy that they don't take a moment to say something nice.

Like you I used to be shy about it myself, and I'd think nothing of it. But now when I get complimented I usually smile and say thank you. Sometimes I'll even blush a little. But it does feel good to recieve them and I appreciate them more now than when I was a kid.

Yes a thank you does it, and there is no need to downplay what we've done, if we worked hard for it and did our best, we deserve that compliment:)

One thing my parents taught me is to say thank you for every compliment or help that I receive. I have learned early in life how to humbly accept a compliment. I am happy I have learned that habbit early on life.

I am not so comfortable in getting compliments. I would rather not be complimented because I think I know where I stand. When people give compliments like that I usually don't believe them 100%. I just say "thank you."

I find it difficult to accept compliments, I usually blush and stammer something about *it's nothing*

Depends on how the compliment is made if it's friendly then I might get shy and blushed, if it those perverts that are all "oh baby" whistle, then I feel real upset.

Oh I don't take compliments to well. When people pay me compliments I always feel like, they're not telling the truth and they're just saying this to be nice. I sometimes make a face if it were my friends who are paying me compliments and if it were my boyfriend, I actually don't believe him and even ask him if there was something wrong that he did to compliment me. LOL.

I'm really uncomfortable with receiving compliments and I don't know how to appropriately compliment someone or when I should. At work, I always hear people telling people things like "you're the man!" or other more complex compliments. But when someone says something to me, I just freeze up. Usually it seems like it should be obvious so it didn't need to be said.

I love getting compliments. I have pretty low self-esteem, & I often second guess myself about everything. So, when someone compliments, I really appreciate it. It makes me feel really good & it just makes everything seem wonderful. I'm able to accept compliments very well. I'm polite & appreciative & I don't boast about it. The only time I can't accept a compliment is when people talk about my weight. I'm overweight & I trying to lose those extra pounds. What I really hate is when people, usually older people look at me & says something like "You look good. You don't need to lose any weight." That is when I don't say thank you & I say of course I have to lose weight. And no, I'm not one of those girls who calls themselves fat, when they really mean slim with a slight stomach, or chubby. I actually am fat. Anyway, for the most part, I can definitely take a compliment. I love them.

Up until now, i get shy when someone gives me a compliment. I just feel like I am not that pretty nor sexy but hey, i still deserve to get a compliment from time to time, right? Saying "thanks" is a must just to show that you have appreciated them taking notice of you.

I feel a bit shy, but nowadays I don't show how embarassed I am by a compliment. I will try to minimize it sometimes, so "Aw, thanks" but sometimes a simple smile is sufficient.

Hi, arkaf. It's good of you way of responding other people's compliment, you are very modest and polite. My way of replying compliment is just "Thank you" to confirm what he said, show my gratitude to him. Then I'll try to find some way to give him a compliment back. It's not a hard job for me, I am always giving compliment to others.
