Well let's see, she sits on command, she sits at the corner of a street, when we stop for traffic, without being told, she hold's 'hands', gives high five and low five, searches for things that I hide for her. And when asked 'who lives here' she goes to the front window and barks, just to let everyone know who lives here! lol She goes to her window to watch her daddy leave every morning, and she knows what the ice cream truck song is. And when you hum the batman theme song, she runs up to the bat cave (aka attic) lol How did she learn these things, repition.

My dogs know all the commands and obey and the know the commands for hunting. I have a dog who if someone says hello or goodbye reaches out his paw and wants to "shake hands". It is very simple. You got to bribe your dog. If he does what you tell him or show him, he gets a biscuite immediately. Why should he do tricks if he doesn`t get anything in return? Tell you dog to sit, squeeze his butt to the ground, when he sits give him a reward immediately. Soon he will sit by himself when you say "sit" in order to get his treat. From then on you can teach him further tricks.

My dog does a few different tricks. He will sit pretty as I say and sit on his back haunches and lift his paws in the air and stay there for a few seconds. He also shakes hands/paws with you. Gives high and low 5's, and he will sometimes roll over for me,but not too often. lol He is about 100 lbs so some of them are harder for him to do than others, but I always reward him with either a good rub down petting or a treat. :)

Ok, I did not teach my dog this trick, and nobody believes me until they come for a visit and see, or hear it for themselves. My dog openes the backyard gate (it doesn't shut very well) comes around to the front door and rings the doorbell, over and over until somebody lets her in.

I once had a dog that when I said "play girlfriend" would roll over on it's back with all 4 legs in the air. Thought it was pretty funny at the time. Have two dogs now, one just rescued and a big old GSD, not sure about teaching them tricks, but as long as they come back to me when I call them and listen to my basic commands (sit, stay, fetch....well thats about it!) then I am more than happy. I think that trying to GET your dogs to do something is not the way to go about it, they should want to do it and enjoy doing it.
