When you cook do you measure eveything you put in it or do you just wing it? I know certain things must be measured, but say for example, spaghetti sauce or potato salad. i never really measure. I just add until it is to my taste. How about you?

I measure for baking. Baking recipes are often very scientific and each ingredient serves a specific purpose. But if I am cooking, I hardly ever measure, especially if i've made the recipe before. I NEVER measure for potato salad or spaghetti sauce. In fact, my standard for potato salad is "does it taste like moms?". She never measures, either.

I do, usually, but sometimes I just eyeball the measurements, espeially when it is not that important in items such as spaghetti sauce and others where you can give or take to your liking, but when it comes to baking cakes, cookies and pies I always measure everything accurately.

hahaha, nice one. I have never measured anything in my cooking for about 30 years, if it looks right, it probably is. Thats my philosophy blessed be

If I am cooking something new or just don't want to mess it up I will measure. Normally on a day to day basis though I just eyeball it out.

a lot of the time i just wing it. I cook a good bit so i can look at something and know about how much is there.

I measure everything and my husband just laughs at me. He can cook good and never uses a measuring piece of cooking equipment. He will add stuff and then say that tastes great or that could use a little more of something. Me I am the measuring queen.

That is too funny. You sound liek my husband. I asked him to start cooking something so I would not have a lot to do one day once I got off work. He asked, " How much is supposed to go in there?" I laughed and said I don't know just add a little see what it taste like and keep going till it taste right or I get home. So funny.
