This has always been my problem every month when i have my period. I've been drinking pain relievers but this only temporarily takes away the pain . And lately i was told by a friend that she had read an article that it's not good for our health for it might cause cancer if i keep drinking them. Is this true? Is there a permanent cure for this? Share your thoughts please. Thank you all.

I have the same problem as yours. I have been having dysmenorrhea ever since I had menstruation. But I didn't make it a habit to take pain relievers such as mefenamic acid. I am not into taking medicine. But mother-in-law suggest that I take herbal medicines. She said cured her and actually relieved her menstrual pains. However, herbal medicine tastes bad so I didn't heed her advice. Anyway, I am now in a birth control injectables. I am not suppose to have menstruation every month because of this. A great escape from dysmenorrhea.. LOLS!

Yeah, herbal medicine taste really awful,i've tried it to and couldnt take it. Same as my mom and grandmather always remind me not to take a bath, but never heed their advices too, had to take a bath everyday for the climate here is awfully hot... but it's good to know that you've found your way to escape the pain... Need to ask you this, is that safe to use? Thank you for the response..

I never experience this but my sister-in-law did. After giving birth to my first nephew the pain lessen. According to her, when she was single it was more painful. She have to take less sour fruits such as green mango, etc. to keep the pain minimal. Another thing about sweets such as chocolates, when ever she try not to take more of it can lessen the pain. I think sour and sweets have something to do with the hormones in our body for our monthly period. Try doing what she did, might help you my friend.

i think dysmenorrhea depends on your lifestyle, if your physically active or doing exercises and sports you wont experience such, in times i experience such, i use hot compress or i drink mefenamic acid medicines.
