Both are bad habits and same things it also depends on that you are doing extensive study or intensive. If it is intensive one should avoid music. If it is extensive and you are studying for information and intertainment then one can listen music. If it is intensive and for any purpose then both are bad habits.

I'd say neither is a bad habit, as long as you don't get distracted by the music though or in case of no music by every little sound.

I think habits shouldn't be classfied by good or bad. there is no so-called good and bad for habit. For the two habits you mentioned above,it depends the indivaduals. only if the habit is good for your study ,which is good ,regardless of whether you are accompanied by the music.

I would like to make an objection. There are good and bad habits. Take a person who has a habit of saying thank you when he or she has received a favour and another person who has a habit of not saying thatk you. Those are two distinct habits. One is bad and one is good. There are many other examples.

hmm,,,difficult question..well you cant comment which is bad habit..it depends on your mood and the extent to which it affects your studies like when i used to study on internet or using computer or doing mathematical work,,,music is like oxygen..haha..really music give me boost and i can study for hours and hours. and for other subjects where i have to concentrate like law subjects and others,,i cant study with music...n beiong studying with music is not bad habit in my view..just a habit

Yeah, I have a friend who has this same. She could do pretty much anything from watching TV, listening to music, discussing, etc while solving math, but when it came to other courses, she needed a reasonably calm environment. Thanks for your opinion.

I know there are some people that cannot study well because of some noise distraction like music but its rare to find someone who cannot study without music. It depends of the person who study on how his capability of focusing in study while listening music. I myself when I was a student I didn't want to disturbed by music when studying, because I'm a music lover its hard for me concentrate on studying while listening music especially when I know the music that is playing. I can't help but listen it carefully thus took my attention away from what I'm reading.
