They say that there has been mismarked labradors that show brindling on the legs or on the mouth. But Has anyone ever seen a Labrador that has the whole body colored Brindle?

Being the owner of now two pure bred labs that are brindled I surf every now and then to see what's being said and maybe see some photos of others. A friend bred labs for several litters from the same two parents. When we went to see the puppies they handed me one and said, "This is the brindled pup...we have one every litter." We were given second pick and chose her, Maia, who is now five. She's a small black lab and has brindling on her cheeks and legs. The main extra color is reddish brown, though she also has yellow on her underside and rump. She's a good hunter (pheasant, chukar, quail) and points (as long as the bird sits still!). As a result of one evening surfing I responded in an exchange on puppyintraining.com with the same description and got a reply from Peggy Shay in Pennsylvania saying that they had just used a new sire and ended up with two black and tans and two brindled. We purchased the female with the best markings and Tora turned six months old today. She is chocolate with yellow brindling on her cheeks, legs, chest and rump. I'll show you photos if you wish. Just send a note to pattnish@msn.com.

Yes! I have seen a brindled labrador retriever; we have a young pup that is the only one born from a litter of yellow and black lab puppies. He is brindled throughout his whole body, except his face. It appears that his color is a cross between black and brownish, copper colored in his fur. He's so cute! He is so smart and can follow many commands. He's an awesome little fellow and we just love playing with him. He has so much energy.

hi i have a brindle lab named Koda he is black and tan.... his parents are chocolate male and black female at first we didnt know what happened but found a lot of info on the web and found out that it is just a recessive gene....he is now 9 months old and he 85lbs and still growing....he is very gental and very smart....although he is often mistaken as part rottie.....and i often have to defend the fact that he is pure bred lab...hes my baby and is very unique.

That's not a lab or a mismark. As the picture says it's a mixed breed. The brindling just came from a non-lab ancestor of the dog.

I know that Im just asking if a pure bred lab with brindle markings exists. who do you think wrote the label on the picture? Im just using brutus as an example I know he is not a pure lab I even wrote it down. So please give other people the benefit of the doubt that they have a reason why the write things and not quickly assume that they are wrong

Jeez, touchy much? So why not give me "the benefit of the doubt" and "assume" that I "have a reason" for replying as I did. I've worked with dogs professionally for many years. I never say NEVER when it comes to any animal but finding brindling on a full blooded lab? Nope. Either some other dog got mixed in there somewhere in the ancestry or it is a SERIOUSLY poorly bred dog! Is that worded more to your liking? Sheesh, ask a question, expect answers.

Okay I understand that, Im sorry for not elaborating. Im just interested in finding a real brindle lab because some lines do have brindling in them but not as intense as this picture of a mix lab. Im sorry for reacting you just caught me with my pants down.

Yes we had a brindle in our liter. The mother and father are both black, their back ground has alot of blacks, chocolates and yellows. She is beautiful and everyone that sees her wants one. The AKC does not judge them as pure breds. That is where the mixed breed came from. I know ours was not mixed, both parents are registered Labs.
