You can't prevent it, you can only lessen the severity of it by avoiding the things that cause them. Cold sores are herpes simplex, a virus that attaches itself to your cells. There is no cure yet. If you have it very bad, you can go to your doctor and get a medicine that will help control the outbreak. never hug or kiss anyone when you are having an outbreak, because it it highly contageous, and make sure to keep your hands and face clean, and don'tshare drinks or eating utensils.

Coldsores are just a curse. Once you get it, you're stuck with it. You can never get rid of it. I used to get them alot when I am so stressed out. I use Abreva and it works wonderfully.
