Definitely YES! :D It would all depend on a person's outlook. Sayuri is positive and takes most things as a challenge. That's what made her a strong woman while facing all the harsh realities that happened in Japan at that time. Of course, a good teacher/guide would help the person develop way better. Mameha guided Sayuri with care and strictness which they both understand :D

I had read the book, and as a woman, I don't consider it as A "torture". Actually those difficulties that the main character had encountered in the story serves as a lesson and it also serves as a training for her how to become strong in the future. And as the story goes on, yes, the main character there suffered alot but at the end no matter how difficult it was, she did overcome. To answer the question, nowadays, theres no impossible thing a woman can do. Whatever it is, if us women wants to achieve, we can do it no matter what.

Oh yes, people are remarkably resiliant and the tenacity for life is as strong today as it ever was. The poor of this world go through tremendous tortures sometimes, especially among women.

Yes. If you always believe in yourself. Even if Sayuri underwent a lot of challenges, she still perseveres. That's why she became successful.
